Whilst @gilescoren is a great columnist and restaurant critic, I fear he's a little to learn before he makes it as an employment lawyer. For a start, alas it's currently outside the employment tribunal's powers to sentence a respondent to death. #ukemplaw thetimes.com/comment/column…

@finishedloading Congratulations. Very happy to hear it. Good luck in pupillage. It's a huge learning curve but embrace it and you'll learn lessons that will stand you in good stead throughout your career.

After 4 years and 52 pupillage applications, this year is finally my year! I now have a tough decision to make, but I feel very lucky to be in such a position after these years. I'm going to be a barrister!
Gabriel Tan@finishedloading

Rarely share personal news here but - no pupillage for me this year. The time for reflection will come but for now I’m allowing myself to experience the disappointment. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the process, I’m really grateful! 🙂

@Joanna__Hardy @MattJEJackson The 1st time I went there to issue an appeal was pre-pupillage. I couldn't find the RCJ, let alone the Appeals Office. I asked a random passerby if they knew where the RCJ was. They took me on 1 further step forward, and said "Yes, it's here".

Lawyers - Remember when we had to go and hand in documents to the Court of Appeal Criminal Office in person? And they had a little handout with directions? It was quite bonkers - like ‘do a U turn, take the gold lift, avoid the Bear Garden’ type stuff. DOES ANYONE HAVE A COPY?

@MattJEJackson @Joanna__Hardy Was the same with the civil counter. All routes led to the Bear Garden, no matter where you went. Mind you, I once, when working late in the CA JA offices, walked through a mass costumed sword fight going on in the Bear Garden. Very surreal.

@Joanna__Hardy I followed these directions once (I think they had little slips at the front reception area). I'm 99% sure I followed what they said, but still ended up in the Bear Garden twice.

@hugorifkind Do we need to settle this by commissioning JPR to carry out a survey of us Jews to determine once and for all who we prefer, Allison or Hugo? Surely it's the only way to reach a resolution? Well, that or a dreidel contest.

And I thought I was beyond being startled by the things that Allison is prepared to say when she gets irate on the internet.

@TanyaGold1 Has he stood up for Jews as I have stood up for them, Tanya? Not judging by the reception his name got at a recent event I did at JW3. And I see no brilliant journalism. No beautiful words, no bravery, just hereditary privilege.

I know I shouldn’t tweet this, but when I see really poor advocacy it makes me angry and sad - thinking of all the super-talented bar students, pupils and junior barristers, who didn’t make it!

An important campaign by the Miscarriage Association to seek to add miscarriage loss to bereavement leave entitlements in the Employment Rights Bill. It's an amendment that makes absolute sense and one I strongly support.
Miscarriage Association@MiscarriageA

Today, we’re making a stand and launching our Leave for Every Loss campaign, so that women and their partners who experience a pre-24 week pregnancy loss have the legal right to take bereavement leave from work. Find out more about our campaign here: ow.ly/x31R50UpFT8

So many people have asked me if my husband has stopped making his resin boards. Two kids and DIY chores saw a hiatus but he's back with this beast of a board. The wood and green are stunning together. #TheCraftsmanCrafts

@DXW_KC Awkward as it sounds, isn't this an appropriate response from the AG (and one you'd give if AG yourself)? Your letter raises legitimate arguments that need to be tested, and which hopefully the AG would instruct counsel to ensure were fully ventilated in court at the right time.

The AG has replied to my letter but hasn’t answered it. The Govt has no view on whether Mr Netanyahu has immunity; no view on the International Courts Act 2001; and it’s “unprecedented” to apply to Court. My advice? Legal problems don’t disappear just because you’d like them to.

@JasonBraier @MattJEJackson @ishkolhatkar That joke works on challa tov levels. Sadly my challah was not good yesterday, and was super dense this time. Trying to make two loaves too fast in succession I suspect. Need to get my eye back in!

....Aaaaand, the great @FreeRepUnit breakfast is over for this year. Absolutely delightful company, stories and laughter, advanced breakfastology, and £1000 raised for the outstanding work of FRU, representing those who need it most, and training the next generation.

@DeshpalPanesar @MattJEJackson @ishkolhatkar Oh dear there’s a challah tov punning available from the breakfast menu! (This pun only works if you pronounce challah correctly with the guttural ch and understand that challah tov is Hebrew for good challah.)
