The Atlantic 10 has put bids in to take the tournament to Philly multiple times, but have had their bids denied. The city makes perfect sense for the league, but the league can’t get in there, so don’t blame it on the A-10.

Hot take: I dig Pittsburgh, but DC would be a better tourney home for A-10 if you picked just one site. GW, Mason, VCU, Richmond, St. Joe’s & La Salle all within about a 2.5-hour (or much less) drive. Pittsburgh can’t compete with that. Also no Rocket Bar in the Burgh.

@mansurshaheen @District_Baller Mainly because we don’t have an arena big enough here. They let the colliseum fall apart and never put together a good plan, even the surrounding county couldn’t get the 18k arena done. They only need like a 12k person arena for it

Okay our actual serious thoughts on this topic. Good! Pick a permanent site. We’d seriously advocate for Pittsburgh. We had a blast there, and it felt like a big event around town. On the rare occasion we weren’t in PPG during a game, the A-10 was on a tv wherever we were. (1/2)

A10 incoming Commissioner Dan Leibovitz on improving non-conference scheduling:
"There are opportunities there to maximize our own schedule, to create more Quad 1 and Quad 2. People focus on Quad 1.
The Quad 2 has very real value as well in the non conference, been very well documented that it can be difficult to get those our a four, and I'd say, plus the Big East as well games, and we have to continue to be creative and try to make those matchups happen on a neutral floor, away from home, whatever it may be." No other community that makes geographic sense would show out for a mid-major tournament and enhance the aesthetics/vibe of this tourney like the gem city.

@A10Talk I loved the Palestra days, but that seems a pipe dream. Also thought Atlantic City was great, though that doesn’t fit his dream of having locals buy up tickets because it’s a yearly event there.

They played this year in like Frisco on some streaming service that nobody could find on the first weekend of the season and the stream froze 5 times in key moments as VCU almost came back from down big to win.
