The stalling of Jalen Duren seems to be blamed on second apron (as is everything) limiting what players get paid. But i think Detroit not wanti to give him $50m a year due to the way the system is setup is actually good for the league and the pistons team. Sure it sucks for Duren to not get auto maxed as many teams blindly did in the past and he thinks he is being robbed because he’s all nba and just deserves that, but teams having more discernment in how they pay players makes it better for all players in general, as well as parity and teams being able to build rosters. If Detroit paid him that, do they then full max Ausar next season? Then try to fill out with minimums and see the Cade era burn down due to no help? Duren not getting $50m a year may hurt him and his agent, but it is overall a good thing for the nba and the playing cohort as a whole.
