Iran is continuing to strike Israel and negotiating a comprehensive deal that will also cover Lebanon. I'm sure a cut from the $60b in tolls every year will go to train and equip Hezbollah to help defend it better. You can't ask more of a middle ranking power caught in an existential fight against a superpower, albeit one on decline.

Like Iran, Turkey is an 80+ million person country and Israel can't be the regional power with two countries of that size around. Turkey can be broken up into a neo Byzantine state around Istanbul and the west coast, a Kurdish state, and then give the Armenians and Arabs a piece on the NW and South. The Turks will be left with the central Anatolia plateau. That was their plan for Iran but it didn't happen.

@Cernovich The IDF has a force of 170k. Military analysts say it would take 1.5 million troops. Where is the troops for Lebanon, Palestinian territories, Syria's newly occupied lands etc. that would be a suicide mission.

An IDF ground invasion with America offering air support only could be sold to the public. Only IDF boots on the ground in Iran. Not ideal as people would be concerned with escalation, but it could work.

@DavidD_Chapman That assumes you have the correct death tolls. Since you referenced Vietnam, you may want to Google the Pentagon papers.

Iran war death toll IRGC: 6,000 USA: 15 Kill Ratio is 400 to 1. General Westmoreland had wet dreams about kill ratios that high during the Vietnam War. Spare me your propaganda. America kicked Iran's teeth in

My heart is breaking -- Nick (@nickpopemod) passed away this afternoon at our home. The last few weeks of his life, even as he suffered, he managed to do a few interviews from home. I was so lucky to have met and to have married Nick. He was a wonderful husband. I loved him dearly.

Nah I just read. Hitler's chief intelligence officer brought over all his assets and case officers and then merged that organization with the OSS to form the CIA in 1947. When the Natl Security Act passed, he became the CIA's first Soviet desk chief, he supplied the Intel that fed Truman's white house to think the Soviets were going to roll over into Europe any day (now we know from archival research this was false) which caused the US to abandon Potsdam. That started the Cold War and rehabilitated and rearmed West Germany to reach near parity in conventional forces. That same guy then went onto be the first BND chief. As for the Nazi scientists they all went to have very senior positions on defense industry and took all the tech they developed pre and post 1945 into corporations where they were major players. I'm not your brother, and thank God for that. Call me when you've spent more hours reading books than doom scrolling social media.

@JasonIn16370144 @Jason_Jorjani Brother if you think we are governed by Nazis, I hate to break it to you, but you are retarded. the Nazis lost the war, and sure some scientists came to the states to work on things and certain programs. But that doesn’t mean we’re occupied by them. Actually the exact opposite

Let me be clear. If this operation takes place, the US Government will eventually be overthrown, Jews will be wiped off the face of the Earth, and the planet will be governed by Nazis. You can call me crazy, or go figure out why that would be the case, but it's what will happen.

@Jason_Jorjani Broski you can’t even take your own country back where 5% of the country is holding you hostage for 47 years. You people are not warriors, it’s as simple as that. Syrians fought in there thousands for 14 years to overthrow Assad. I just can’t see Persians do that. Sorry

The war in Iran is reaching the point where total victory is the viable option. There’s no deal to be made that’s acceptable or works. Diplomacy is dead. You have to go all the way. Tragic but it is what it is. Can’t half-a** this. Consequences of defeat with Iran controlling the Hormuz, acquiring nukes, or the entire region entering chaos is too damaging.

@JasonIn16370144 @rolegiongetica Europe has just overtaken the full support, whether finances, war equipment, war supplies or as Denmark has done offering Ukrainian defense companies produce in Denmark. And train troops, which they have done since long. Ukraine develop at rapid speeds and have become masters.

russia has lost the war. I know it hurts the orcs and the vatniks on X but logistically, strategically and tactically, there is only one truth. They lost the conventional conflict. Even knowing that they control an important segment of the Ukrainian territory, they will not be able to maintain that control in the future and they know it. Of course, there is no doubt that they are still the most powerful nuclear state and that threat will forever exist for the West, but no matter how russia will try to spin it and no matter how bad they will want to extend their battle losses and sacrifice their people, the truth is the following: russia has lost the war in Ukraine. Face it! 😉

Most people around the world would love to have that luxury but unfortunately the dysfunctional state of American domestic politics often leaves them victims of its foreign policy. If you have a shit, and I know you don't, plenty of people will starve in the developing world because the cost of energy and food (Persian Gulf is also a major conduit for artificial food fertilizer, not just oil and gas) are skyrocketing and the food part will get very bad come next harvest in the fall. People care primarily about their problems. They don't want America to be their problem yet America insists on being one. That's why they comment on it.

i am so tired of people from other countries posting their opinions on everything america does like anyone asked or gives a single fuck american politics, the moon mission, our economy, our military, our culture. the entire world has something to say about everything we do 24/7. but you never see americans sitting online all day tweeting about what’s happening in your country. ever. because nobody cares worry about yourself and fix your own problems. the obsession with america from people who don’t live here can’t vote here and have zero stake in the outcome is genuinely hilarious stay in your lane nobody asked you or cares what you have to say

@AriFleischer The reason why people didn't like what you were saying when you were press secretary is because 90% of the things you were saying. Esp about the Iraq war, were unmitigated lies that cost people lives.

My message here clearly struck a nerve. A few friends from when I was press secretary, domestically and abroad, don’t like what I said. Instead of seeing how Western European nations must change, they just want to attack Trump. The reason it struck a nerve is because they recognize that this time NATO nations are being held to account. They know they’ve come up short for decades and by denying us overflight rights, they’ve gone too far. Americans are fed up, especially with France and Spain. Trump won’t stand for it and they know it. They now fear the consequences of their inaction. The UK, unlike its days under Thatcher or Blair, is wishy-washy. They’ve often been a good allie, but this time they want to sit it out and have it both ways. We can use their bases, but only for limited operations. At least the UK spends real money on defense. France, Spain, and Italy are another story. So too is Canada. None of these four contribute seriously to NATO. They’re laggards, trying to get away with it. Spain and France force our pilots to fly thousands of miles out of the way (I thought they didn’t like carbon footprints) en route to Iran. Eastern Europe is a different story. They spend more on defense and they understand power. They lived under Soviet domination and recognize weakness when they see it. They won’t be weak. Western European governments, especially France, are good at issuing communiques and statements. They enjoy hosting conferences. They love to ponder deeply. Getting them to act is another matter, unless it’s to purchase Russian LNG, which they still do. The world is changing. Out of this war will come a new group of younger nations that understand real power and the importance of strength. The UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Eastern Europe will emerge stronger than ever. Western Europe will continue to fall behind. As for Trump, you don’t have to like him. He often says things none of his predecessors would say. But don’t underestimate the fact that US taxpayers are fed up with nations that don’t pull their weight, and then force our pilots to take risks and longer flights so we can rid the world from the menace that is Iran. Today’s Western European leaders would rather mollify Iran and pay them ransoms (trade) than support the US. Things are different today. We all know it. The UK, France, Spain and Italy (despite its Prime Minister) have earned the consequences that will unfold. They could have and should have supported us. Not as a NATO alliance. But as individual free nations. All we wanted was overflight rights and full access to airfields. They’ve made their choices. Soon, they’ll see the results.
Ari Fleischer@AriFleischer

When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US. France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.) Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors. NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.
