@Isaacbrooks5 @aliladiere That is my hunch…….better language, better place on pitch, less history with Oliver …… but obviously don’t know for sure

@aliladiere You could be right but could it also be he’d be better to deal with Michael Oliver than Gabriel?

Rice being captain on the weekend was a message to someone. I won’t name any names but there is a reason why he wore the armband and not Gabriel like previous games.

Amazing how many people that out of 89, 99, 00, 01, 03, 05, 16, 23, 24 and 25 it’s 89 we are going to emulate now. I hope they are right! And it may be that we do it. But seriously saying “remember 89” means so little if your head is so far in the sand you are blanking those other years

Mmmm October. “Zubimendi can’t play every game” #arsenal
Jason Britton@JasonKBritton

@JordJoyce @LeGrove Zubimendi can’t play every game. Today was Good rotation option. Plenty of chances created before Odegaard injury. We’ll see it again. 3 points in the bag. If you followed the thread no one is saying rice-ode-eze is *the* way to go; just the question is not simply “ode or eze”

I don’t know why I so strongly believed it was impossible for Odegaard and Eze to exist in the same midfield. Very excited that this is the way.

@AFC_GLEN My guess was he was better suited to dealing with Michael Oliver than Gabriel - language, location on the pitch, previous interactions. But clearly I don’t know

@JonSpurling1 I've already renewed my ticket for next year, when I spoke to the club they have said the waiting list and demand for tickets is crazy, regardless of the outcome, we'll be alright and we'll go again, with hope we can prosper. Anyone saying anything different is pure hyperbole.

‘Broken beyond repair.’ What? If we finish 2nd? Give your head a wobble, get some perspective and toughen up. I don’t quite think we’re in a Sheffield Wednesday or worse - a Bury situation. We’ll all be back in August whatever happens. #Arsenal #COYG
MO@raptorAFC

Genuinely think the club and fan base will be broken beyond repair if we don’t win this title. The club can be saved with a title win and a mutual parting of ways with the manager to sweeten that.

@YankeeGunner His form has dived since Christmas because of lack of rotation. And we are now paying the price. I’ve been saying we’ve been poor since Christmas for some time. Winning when poor is a good sign but if you keep being poor you run out of results eventually. Clive’s really disappointing comments last week on people expressing that view was a low light of all the AVP’s I’ve listened to. I’ve Watched AFC home and away since the late 80s and yet that’s nit a valid view apparently. Very poor
YankeeGunner@YankeeGunner

Anyone have any idea what this is about?

Agreed re the not giving up but people keep quoting what happened in one year (1989) when we pulled back from the brink and not those years when we did not. 1 in 10 years we did not blow it doesn’t mean this year will be a repeat of 1989
PG ⚽❤️@GoonerGirl1969

Am I pissed off? Yes? Do I think it's over for us winning the league? No! We lost to Derby, then drew with Wimbledon in 89, then had to go to fortress Anfield & win by 2 clear goals & not many gave us a chance in hell. Until it's mathematically impossible, I'm not giving up.

Good discussion about pensions. @petematthew @meaningfulmoney The big change with pensions from 6th of April 2027 is them being IHTable as well as being taxable as income for the beneficiaries. However for me they’re still a no brainer. Putting in £48,000 and the government adds £12,000 and you get a further £12,000 off your tax bill if you are a higher rate taxpayer so that’s is a 50% return before you even start investing. Yes you pay income tax taking it out but if you can keep it within your 20% band then it’s not too bad. Plus, you have yours knee rate band of £12,570 too. Also of course you can take 25% out tax-free i.e. £15,000 and that assumes no growth course. So my plan is to draw it down to zero by gifting it or spending it during my lifetime. Inheritance will be my ISA, property and my family investment company share portfolio. I might buy some life cover to cover the inheritance tax. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the…

Forget all the noise about Arsenal needing to sell. We will sell of course but I’m telling you now, Arsenal will make some massive signings if we win the league. Revenue is as good as ever at the moment & Mikel has already said about the importance of not standing still

@BlackScarfMarc 36 teams in the UCL (not 32). The way to remember this is sp*rs got a trophy for coming **37th** in the year we were in the top 4 teams in Europe.

As soon as UEFA expanded the CL and stopped teams dropping down to the Europa and the European Johnstones Paint Trophy, they pretty much confirmed that English clubs will walk to the final of those two bob tournaments every season. With the 32 best teams in a CL closed shop, only the total shit is left in the lower competitions, so English teams will have a piss easy route. The way that lot did last year; weakest Europa League in decades.
