🚨 If ‘capping Pension Tax Relief’ at 20% becomes law, my advice would be to not bother with pensions at all! Instead, enjoy life to its fullest and max out your ISA!

We are where the internet was in the late 90s when we were all amazed at being able to read a newspaper online or buy a book with a two week delivery. We couldn’t envisage streaming or Teams or everything else we take for granted. AI development will be much faster. No one knows what the next 12 months will bring us. It will be life changing that’s for sure.

@JaxRyan @dontdelay You can’t just sell a minority share of a private company for the pro rata value. They are usually unsalable or at a considerable discount of 50-80% in my (extensive) experience. Public companies yes. Private companies no. Just like you can’t sell a room of a mansion.

@dontdelay No, you just sell £400,000 of your £29m in shares. A year later if value of your assets have grown at 5 percent, your total wealth will now be £30,940,000 House £1,50,000 (5% of £Im is £50,000) Shares £29,890,000 ( 5% of £28,460,000 is £1,430,000)

Wealth tax fun You find out wealth will be taxed at 2% above £10m You’re worth £30m and you’re taxed £400,000 (You don’t have £400,000 you have a house worth £1m and shares in your company worth £29m but that’s a separate point) A year later you’ve lost £10m of wealth and are now worth £20m. With another £200,000 wealth tax bill to pay. Do you get to claim a refund on your previous year’s lost wealth?

I went to an @CarrefourFrance today and they have just installed a big row of solar powered covers over part of the car park. I presume this is a big opportunity @SupermarketREIT to do that and monetise it. Not sure how the leases work though. I presume it’s for the tenant to get approval and fund it. If so would enhance valuations if nothing else? I appreciate the weather in Doncaster might not be the same as the South of France though.
