@beshoefree Maybe the only way is using money as motivation. Subsidies for better food, more taxes for less healthy foods, rewards for exercise etc.
We did it with smoking.

@TheSecretAcct Sadly I am not sure you can. Humans are like rivers, they want to take the path of least resistance and effort. To go against this is to fight, and few do. Pharma influence is massive. Many cant cook. Many dont want to. A busy & stressful world means little time to shop & cook.

@DividendBreeder Equally don’t under estimate what lifestyle you’ll want when you retire. When you get there you’ll realise you don’t want to compromise and you want to travel a lot.

Important Reminder: You need way more money from ages 30-50 than you will at age 65 and beyond.
Not enough people consider this.
My current lifestyle at 41 years old requires WAY more cash flow than what it will require at 65 when I’m retired (inflation aside).
Here are current monthly expenses I have today that will be gone at 65.
$2,200 401K/IRA contributions
$1,500 Mortgage (P and I only)
$1,000 Taxable Brokerage
$900 kids activities
$500 kids groceries
$400 529 contributions
That’s $6,500/month I pay today that I won’t have to pay a dime of when I’m a 65-year-old retired empty nester.
Moral of the story… you won’t need nearly as much as you think to have an awesome retirement one day.
