The situation in B.C. is a powder keg. Political and Indigenous leaders in B.C. need to start working to bring it back from the edge. I don’t know if they’re capable of it. I think the Feds and industry could be helpful but I doubt anyone wants to jump into this mess. I hope there’s a small group of smart people somewhere working on deescalation options.

Appalled at the horrific statements made by Tara Armstrong in the House today. As elected officials we have a duty to conduct ourselves in the Chamber with the highest integrity. This is a long standing tradition for Mrs. Armstrong to behave this way. Many of us have been calling it out for a very long time. Now, it is time to draw a line in the sand. Silence isn’t going to cut it. Those who haven’t done so, make clear whether you’d accept this person in your caucus. Your constituents, party members, donors, and fellow elected officials deserve an unequivocal answer. Yes or no. All conservative candidates should be making their positions clear, not only on their view of her conduct but whether they’d accept this in their caucus. Those who have accepted endorsements from her, have the same obligation to the same people. Personally, I have long said that I won’t be in caucus with her under any circumstances. This rhetoric brings down the legitimacy of the entire House and every elected official in it who doesn’t speak up. So speak up now- I will interpret silence as acceptance and I believe many others will also.
