@drchrisnewton Yeah, I think the point here is that it was their first instinct to take the flag down. For a party that has some questions to answer about Russian influence / money it's at best a 'bad look' and at worst ............. 🤔

Btw - I've been a passionate supporter of Ukraine from the start. I'd much rather our govt projects strength and continue to supply Ukraine with weapons than councils flying flags which doesn't achieve anything.

I wouldn't have done this. Taking a flag down while the war's still going on will be interpreted politically. But I do think after this war, only national/county flags should be flown. I'm not sure what flying a foreign flag on a town hall really achieves. x.com/BBCWorld/statu…

James, I know it may be difficult for you to find your way to Essex even though you’re supposed to be an Essex MP, however Essex is in England, not Eastern Europe. Reform being so openly hostile to Britain’s support for Ukraine is one of the most off-putting things about them. Flying the flag of a free and sovereign Ukraine is a mark of our upholding their right to exist as a nation in the face of the murder, rape and pillage of Putin’s unprovoked invasion. Doing so does not detract from or diminish Britain’s national interest. It enhances it. We have a clear national interest in the defence of Europe, and not emboldening further Russian aggression.

@JamesCleverly What is the issue? They want to remove all foreign flags, including flags of countries we support since we can’t be selective. The UK has financially done a lot to support Ukraine so it’s not like removing a flag will change anything. This criticism is just silly.
