@mikefreemanNFL I think its hard to compare a movie performance to a series but I think I would agree. His run as Homelander was pretty incredible

@SandoNFL Barkley was an amazing player. When he was "on" there were few better. Lack of playoff success in the East hurt his exposure when he was younger.

@heitner As more colleges hire former pro sports execs, specifically for football, you will see more and more complexities especially those familiar with the older style nfl contracts with multiple performance tiers and bonuses that can be unlocked.

Over the past week, I have reviewed dozens of #NIL agreements across the country. The market continues to mature, but certain issues keep surfacing in negotiations. Here are some of the things I'm finding: Payment structures have grown far more sophisticated. I'm seeing more hybrid deals that combine guaranteed upfront payments with performance bonuses tied to specific deliverables and some deals that contain no guarantees whatsoever. Any non-guaranteed income could leave athletes chasing money they were orally promised. Termination clauses remain the most heavily negotiated provision. One-sided, "sole discretion," termination rights without notice or cure periods are concerning. Post-termination rights and IP ownership remain areas of emphasis. I specifically look for "perpetual" and "irrevocable" grant of rights or extended licenses in my review. Athletes should want rights (other than limited archival rights) to expire cleanly when the deal ends. These are real business contracts with real dollars and real consequences. Athletes and their advocates need to treat them that way. The deeper the NIL industry develops, the more important it is for athletes to retain experienced counsel to walk them through every material term before signing.

@ArifHasanNFL Slow news period time leads to stuff like this. Reality is for most teams spending peaks and valleys is totally normal. That should have been the first reason not to speculate on it or certainly not amplify the speculation.

I'm glad Ben pulled in some genuine reporting but it's nuts that this even had to be addressed given that the original discussion came from a speculative opinion column with a dicey (at best) track record of prediction

A source close to the Wilfs said there’s “zero truth” to the notion the #Vikings owners are thinking about selling the team. They’ve long talked about the team staying in the family for multiple generations, and both Mark and Zygi Wilf’s kids have taken on larger roles with the team in recent years.

I would not read much into Vikings spending as a sign of anything. In the last few years they have ranked as low as 24th and as high as 2nd. They are currently around 29th. Dropping cash after a high spending year with bad results is generally normal.

@SandoNFL Its an unfortunate end of a career. Was such a great 9 or 10 year run with Seattle but the last 5 years leave such a bad memory

The Ravens were ahead of many teams years ago with their process. I think teams have caught up which is what he is getting at here. I also think more info leaks help the mock draft stuff get closer. The only thing Ill say is that at least in the past the type of jump he is mentioning is a pretty small relative to the draft.
Baltimore Ravens@Ravens

“The phenomenon of the consensus board didn’t exist years ago. It’s a newer thing. Over the last three years or so, more teams seem to be drafting the same as the Ravens." GM Eric DeCosta opens up about the draft process on The Lounge. Watch: youtu.be/Q7XEYN65aqA

Ex-NFLPA leader @DeMauriceSmith on the Lamar Jackson collusion case: "If they offered $1 more to him, they could have the best player in the National Football League. Not only did no team — not one — make an offer to Lamar Jackson, I watched league and team executives give press conferences: 'You know what? I'm not really interested in him.'"

@Jason_OTC Ensures they would receive a comp pick by rule? Or ensures that Rodgers qualifies as a CFA loss if he signs elsewhere, which would give the Steelers a net loss of one CFA this cycle and presumably a 4th/5th rounder?

The chances of "it getting to that" go up significantly when George Pickens or the Cowboys are involved
Jane Slater@SlaterNFL

@JesseLewisHall @dakclips @NickHarrisFWST From Thursday, in all fairness this is all a nothing burger during the voluntary phase but after that it’s a story I suppose. July 15 the deadline to sign but also keep in mind cowboys can rescind it too. Let’s hope it doesn’t get to that

Not really sure why there is so much hate towards a "consensus board" this year. Maybe its just boredom over the draft itself. Why get so annoyed at a sheet that simply collects the opinions of many of the draft analysts you read all offseason leading into the draft?

@benbbaldwin They cant because if its blatantly untrue those on the other side are immediately leaking to the Schefters of the world that the market is at least a 1. There are arguments to be made about voting and maybe embellishing stories but that happens all over the place.

This story mostly makes me sad for the families involved so I haven't posted anything about it and also who cares what I think but... How does this make any sense? Why would we believe that one reporter can tank someone's trade value?
Jarvon@Jarv365

This is Diana Russini tanking AJ’s value on February 3rd of this year. She said he was worth less than Jaylen waddle right here. The NYT paid her $1.5M to report stories man. What she said matters a lot. It’s equivalent to Shams in basketball.
