I missed out on the original Pebble watch back in the day... but with @ericmigi re-releasing the Pebble I finally got one!
It's not as fully featured as an Apple Watch but it does pretty much everything I need.
• the month long battery life is amazing
• it's very light
• the interface is super intuitive and really, really fast (I'm looking at you Apple)
• being able to add custom watch faces is a game-changer
• the time-line feature is way better (IMHO) than what the Apple Watch has
• it has good enough sleep and step tracking
• It has a basic heart rate monitor
• installing apps and watch faces is almost instantaneous
• it's OPEN SOURCE!!!

@ATabarrok @Noahpinion And as an American I can confidently say if I don't get microplastics in my pizza, something feels off.
English

@Noahpinion Oddly the plastic ones work much better than metal.
English

@ATabarrok @Noahpinion I don't know how to code - I'm making crazy niche shit for myself and my 10-15 Google Ads clients instead of stuff for the masses.
LLM proliferation democratized software for special interests/ people with the motivation to make their own weird shit.
English

@Noahpinion Awesome new model every few months is primary answer.

@Steve_Sailer @TheAstrosLocker And for those of us that are poor & stupid?
English

@TheAstrosLocker Peter Weller, who played Robocop, earned an art history Ph.D. in 2014 researching Tuscany, the same place as Brad Lidge's Estruscan civilization: "Alberti Before Florence: Early Sources Informing Leon Battista Alberti's De Pictura."
If you are rich and smart, think of Florence.
English

From All-Star to Archaeology. Former Astros and Phillies closer Brad Lidge is now an archaeologist researching the Etruscan civilization. This was not on my 2026 bingo card, but it's cool as hell. penn.museum/blog/major-lea…

@AlanSealls An Econ professor told me that gas stations are all usually the same price +/- a few cents. (with a few exceptions, consistently "bad" gas stations)
The effort it would take driving around to find the best price is probably outweighed by the benefit of a few cents cheaper gas.
English

On the cycling cash/credit prices at this one gas station on Airport Blvd in west #mobilealabama the higher credit price shows for less time than the lower cash price. It fooled me and I paid the price. Error or #gasoline #scam?
English

@stevehunsaker1 Compensating differentials at work. It's why all the YES CHEF bumfluffery is a net good if you're a foodie - it means more Chefs working for cheaper on the margin.

I learned this in about 4 weeks of interning with the Diamondbacks in college:
99/100 people that work in pro sports are absolutely miserable and because it’s everyone’s “dream job” the orgs can pay 30-50% less than what that position would pay in the non-sports market.

@not_josue514 @Sheep_Esports I think they fixed that 2-3 days in, so hopefully that was something they learned and will do moving forward.
English

@Sheep_Esports Sounds good but last time I wasn’t able to watch since it’s región locked to korea

@pena_austin @charaf_ecomwize Comment MATRIX if you want an AI medical degree
English

@charaf_ecomwize They’re also running AI podcast ads with people pretending to be doctors.
English

You've probably seen Primal Queen ads everywhere.
Here's why they're scaling so fast.
They're not sending all that traffic to one landing page.
They're constantly testing new pages with different angles and hooks for the same product.
That's the whole strategy. Test fast. Scale what works. Kill what doesn't.
@ecomwize lets you do the same with AI in 10 minutes.
Comment "PAGE" and I'll DM you 16 landing page templates you can plug into your store and start testing.
(must be following)

@pena_austin @charaf_ecomwize Hey buddy those AI actors went to AI medial school in the matrix
English

@PeterBoettke That's awesome people are still making these pocket readers. I remember an Econ professor asking me about the game theory one in the early 2010s. I remember saying it's like a diet textbook than anything else.

@MonsieurYordle LET THAT BE A LESSON TO YA - *NO* country beats the EU 20 times in a row.

@AndrewPPC @MidlifeCrysis_ Andrew Bethel loves seaman is something I still shout from the rooftops

@MidlifeCrysis_ Asking my parents to buy me a game called Seaman was quite the experience.
