An incredibly blatant misuse of executive authority. Driving licenses should be about competency to drive, not become a catch-all for miscellaneous crimes. Fly-tipping is, as it should be, already a serious crime. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

🚨 #BREAKING: DC District Court rules President Trump’s firing of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) Board of Directors was beyond his authority, declaring it null & void. 🇺🇸 The court also voids the transfer of USIP’s $500M headquarters to the GSA and invalidates appointments of DOGE staffers as USIP leaders. Elections mean nothing when courts control all! The judicial branch towers over Congress & the President! #USIP #JudicialPower #Trump storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…

@tombennett71 the next paragraph is also pretty worrying - as if teaching “employment” and “personal finance”, instead of say english and maths, will fix things. to have personal finance, one needs a job. to have a job, one needs an education - not a set of subjective and vague assertions.

Jenkins is so reliably wrong about education, he might actually be the most important tool we have to improve things: simply do and believe the opposite of what he proposes, and a Golden Age will appear. This argument is like saying, ‘Why should we, humans with bicycles and cars, continue to be so attached to our legs? Lop them off, I say!’

@EU_Commission Why on earth are you putting accessibility ahead of technological edge. This is pretty much how regimes fall. (not against accessibility here, just saying that the EU regulates while the world innovates)

@professor_dave @tombennett71 Isn’t that why *every child* gets two days per week plus half terms and holidays to do non-academic stuff? Having an academic school system, which still integrates a holistic curriculum, is the best way of showing kids what they want to work towards in the world.

@tombennett71 The curriculum in schools is very heavily skewed towards the most 'academic' pupils. From age 13, all focus/priority is on 'academic' GCSEs. We need to better provide for less academically-minded students, possibly with provision differentiating within the school around this age.

Starting the new year with this utterly odd claim: kids don’t misbehave in schools because the curriculum doesn’t suit them. I’m amazed anyone would believe this. This is like saying people break the speed limit because the roads aren’t the right shape.

$36,000,000,000,000+ in national debt. The human mind can’t really process a number that high, so here’s a thought experiment: to completely pay back our national debt in $1 bills, you’d need enough to line them up from Earth to the Sun & back 18 times. And it’s going up daily.
