It's not even a small disaster, it's actively great, even though this team is awful. Alonso is doing nothing and this is supposed to be his last 'good' year. Having Nimmo and Alonso and Soto and Vientos is having 4 DHs locked up. It's not remotely ok. If they get to keep, at least attempting, to sign all the Skubals and Tuckers and Bichettes every year vs having the corpse of Nimmo and Alonso on the bench/DHing, it will be great for many years to come. Obviously today it fucking sucks. It's also been 3 weeks.

Montas signing was bad. There isn't a single intelligent person who didn't want to sign Manaea, he was the literal ace for the 2024 team, and he got hurt and has never been himself since. It happens. Peralta has clearly been very good. His last start was 6ip 1r, and Myers is under a ton of team control and excellent, wasn't a 1 player deal.

What if we knew just a little about baseball? Like...I get we're trying to throw shit at him, but he signed Juan Soto literally last year. He signed Clay Holmes, probably the single best value signing in MLB, literally last year. Peralta/Myers trade A+. Robert trade A. Nimmo contract dump excellent (if you know ball, obviously not if you go "he's hitting better than Semien in early 2026!!!1!). He saved 155 million not crazy overpaying a mid 30s 1 tool player (who I love more than anyone) for 5 years, which is inarguably an A++.
