नमस्कार मित्रो! आज प्रातःकाल 4:30 पर माताजी ने देह त्याग दिया। आप सभी की प्रार्थनाओं ने उसे बहुत संबल दिया, जिजीविषा दी परंतु भगवान की इच्छा कुछ और थी। आप सब मेरे परिजन की भाँति इस पूरे समय साथ खड़े रहे, उसका आभारी हूँ। मेरी माँ, हर माँ की तरह, मेरे जीवन का आधार थी। उसी की कृपा ने मुझे शिक्षा की ओर मोड़ा, उसी ने पिताजी से जिद कर-कर के मुझे दिल्ली तक पढ़ाने को भेजा। मैं चाहता था कि वो लम्बे समय तक मेरे साथ रहें, परंतु लिवर सिरोसिस जैसे रोग लगभग असाध्य ही होते हैं। अंतिम दिनों में कुछ कष्ट में थीं, और वह मेरे लिए असह्य अनुभव था। आप सब ने इस कठिन समय में मेरा सहयोग किया, मेरी माँ के लिए प्रार्थनाएँ कीं, डॉक्टर और हॉस्पिटल बताए, मैं इसे भूल नहीं सकता। अब उनकी सद्गति हेतु प्रार्थना कीजिए! ईश्वर उन्हें मुक्ति दें! ॐ शांति!

I know a 35-year-old married couple in India. No kids by choice. Household income is strong. House almost paid off. Good investments. Foreign trips every year. Comfortable life. Looks sorted from the outside. But in the long run, this choice usually backfires. In India, money without family responsibility mostly turns into consumption. Bigger cars. Better phones. Another vacation to the same three places with different hotel names. At some point, experiences stop feeling new. Kids aren’t just an expense here. They’re continuity. Legacy. A reason to stay sharp, relevant, grounded. Ask older Indians what gave their life meaning. Almost none will talk about gadgets or trips. They talk about their children, the sacrifices, the chaos, the pride. Comfort is addictive in your 30s. Loneliness is brutal in your 60s. Choosing ease over building something bigger feels smart today.

It is extremely unfortunate that AR Rahman, of all people, would make these comments. A career spanning over 3 decades, being celebrated, revered, deified by the whole of India, with his songs like Kun Faya Kun, Khwaja Mere Khwaja, Piya Haji Ali going on to become super hit in a country where majority are Hindus. There is not a single national accolade and award that he is not presented with. He is entrusted to give the background score for Ramayana, alongwith Jewish Hans Zimmer, and the majority does not have any issues with this. On top of this, he said this in a BBC interview with a Pakistani journalist. This incident shows that being ungrateful and paranoid is a mindset, it does not have to be rooted in reality. He is a person who publicly converted from Hinduism to Islam, in a country with majority Hindu population, and still went to become the most celebrated music producer of the country. Yes, we should not compare India with shithole countries, but, for context, there are at least 10 Muslim countries where you will be executed by law for leaving your religion. It is the tolerance and pluralism woven into the very fabric of Hindu faith, and the Indian society, that allowed him to confidently profess his identity, and get celebrated for his music. His comments underscore a deeper, psychological rot within the community. It shows that self-pity and victimhood complex are mental diseases that can infect somebody even at the highest levels of achievements and accolades. When someone of his stature goes into self-pity, it trickles down into the community who further start wallowing in victimhood, creating a cycle that feeds on itself. If some new directors are being given the chance after over 3 decades of him ruling the industry, then blaming it on communalism is extremely ugly and misplaced, and the reactions to his comments are completely justified.
