Santa Clara charges an income tax of 9.3% on top of the 9% sales tax… Purdy is still responsible for his California income tax with an effective rate of 10.29% (12.3% bracket). For federal taxation, Purdy’s effective rate is 32.5%. So, just to keep it simple, and not chase his whole schedule around based on the athlete tax that states with income tax have by statute. Purdy is paying roughly $81K for Santa Clara’s income tax, $92,610 in California income tax, and $292.5k in federal income tax for a total of $466,110 in taxes, and this doesn’t even contemplate all the 9% sales tax Purdy has to pay. His portion of the rent he’s splitting may still be $3k per month for this area. I know a lot of us would love that sort of money after taxes, but linemen regularly get $50k gifts from their QB. It’s a class move by CMC
