- Sneaky fade for Cabrera as his velo has dipped from 96 to 94 MPH, and his main punch out pitch, the curveball, has completely tanked losing 4” of horizontal break and 3” of depth.
- Cabrera’s K and whiff rates vs lefties have also been extremely interesting this year, only posting a 13.6% whiff rate and 10.4% K rate, which puts Cabrera in the bottom 10th percentile. A lot of this has been tied to the lack of sharpness on the curveball, as the changeup has still been effective, but the curve has completely failed him in two strike counts.
- This sets up nicely against the Rangers, who are projected to roll out 6 lefties today, which honestly only gives Cabrera around 2 real K targets in the lineup.
- Other righties have also struggled to punch out this Rangers lineup recently including Flaherty (4), Ginn (2), and Woo (2).
- Rangers have also been walking at a top 13 clip, so I could easily see Cabrera running into some command issues as well.
