same. this year my rent went up $237 per month so i’m moving bc yall got me fucked up. it started at $900 in 2019, very outdated and now they want $1369 w no changes to the apt. unreal

My last rent increase was because the landlord noticed that the market rate for the area had gone up Not because his costs went up, but because other landlords were charging more in my area and my landlord felt left out and thought I should pay him more for the same thing

Hey Gen Z: I got my first cast iron pans at Sears when I was in college. It was under $20 for a 10” and 12” pan. I still use them almost every day. You can get a set of 8/10/12 Lodge pans on Amazon for $65…which is a comparable price 40 years later. They will outlast you.

As a young dad myself, I’m genuinely worried about my son growing up addicted to screens, phones, games, etc.
It feels like EVERYTHING is designed to grab their attention these days.
So I want to ask:
- How do you actually manage screen time in your house?
- What’s worked for you?
- What’s failed?

My dryer broke, instead of going out and buying a new one, I bought a 16$ replacement part and fixed it myself. How many people out here today can say honestly they are fixing there things instead of tossing them and buy a new one.

The economy is splitting in two.
Yesterday I toured a new gym in town charging $500/month. They offer blood work, recovery, and concierge-style fitness, but most people are really paying for exclusivity.
They haven’t even opened yet and they’re already 25% sold out.
Later that same day, I talked to a family friend who has owned restaurant chains for 25 years.
He told me they are seeing the highest rate of declined credit cards at the register they’ve ever seen.
Higher than 2008.

2 years ago the WNBA had its first bona fide box office star in Caitlin Clark.
Her team, the Indiana Fever, had to move its games into massive venues, and charge hundreds of dollars for tickets in response to demand to see her play.
Even today, out of jersey sales for ALL basketball players, hers are second only to NBA star Steph Curry...meaning she sells even more jerseys than guys like Lebron James.
But with the hype came extra scrutiny on a league that was clearly unprepared for the big time, and more interested in identity politics than in growth.
Before, the story was about a generational talent.
Now it's becoming about a generational fumble.
I've never seen anything like it.
