🗣️ Discussing vanco AUC dosing at #ESCMIDGlobal2024… I have 3 major concerns… 1. 😬Publication bias - who is going to publish negative results after investing tremendous resources and political will into this? 2. 🤔Should many sites first focus resources on reducing unnecessary vancomycin as a greater priority? MRSA nares, order sets, education, nudging, advocating for alternatives/streamlining, etc 3. 😳Major practice changes introduce risk for errors that make care worse - this can be overcome but it’s still a concern. I’m not opposed to AUC-based dosing, but I’m not sold across the board on it either, when we put it in the real world big picture
