Three months later, this is my last @washingtonpost story — delayed because nearly everyone involved in it was laid off. I am very grateful to newsroom friends who made sure it published anyway, and to brave Roman Mongold and his family for their time.

Mine for @TheAtlantic on being snatched off a Baghdad street on March 31, beaten, blindfolded and ziptied, and spending over a week as a hostage in handcuffs and in pain from multiple rib fractures sustained the first day.
Alhamdullilah I am out now and healing. And I still love Iraq, dearly.

@Kasparov63 Basically what happened in Hungary is the equivilent of if a former Trump supporter named Johnny America formed his own party and ran against the Republicans and won a supermajority.

DC reporters - please stop posting about these quick calls with the President. They’re like press releases. Words without information or reporting. No value.
Jacqueline Alemany@JaxAlemany
Just got off a quick call w President Trump who said he didnt “know anything about” FLOTUS’ statement prior to her on camera appearance, but that he was in a meeting about the war & couldn’t speak further. “She didn’t know him,” he added before hanging up, referring to Epstein.

Gavin Newsom's stewardship of California's economy has been so stellar that even Elon Musk admits he can't quit the Golden State, says @Matthew_Winkler (via @opinion) bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

@RonanFarrow @Newyorkez @NewYorker @andrewmarantz Just read the whole thing, thanks for your work! Still thinking about the guy who warned about him maybe ending up being a Madoff/Bankman-Fried figure. And Sams comment caring about power more than money, while the whole stock market may now break if OpenAI breaks…

@Newyorkez @NewYorker @andrewmarantz It's a long read and does something that's unusual in the current attention economy, not front-loading major revelations, and instead allowing for a steady accumulation of facts, with some of the most significant near the end. Block out an afternoon!
