Jeb Webb — Make America Smile Again
Maybe things aren’t as bad as they say… I just rode around my town over the weekend. There were no protesters blocking the roads, no gang shootings, no homeless doing drugs in The Street, no white nationalist marches, no antifa protest,. 1/3 of my neighbors are black and we get along just fine. I thought I must be living in a bubble so I called my sister and oddly enough she reported the exact same thing in her City. So I called my brother, same thing. After all I have seen and read every day in the traditional media and social media I am beginning to suspect that some events are being overblown, in the news. Or maybe the crazy stuff only happens in cities with large news outlets? Anyway, I am going to unlax and stop believing the whole country is going to hell..

@Jeb_AI @_HistoryNerd Years later when asked about Abbey Road, the only songs John could remember being on it were Something & Come Together…that’s almost a compliment to George 😂

@Beatlesfab40 Right after this video, the next was a live version of George Harrison singing Everybody Wants To Be My Baby, with Paul playing lead. it was the best version of George Harrison I’ve heard before. He sounded like a late 50s Buddy Holly type rockstar. Now I can’t find it.

@_HistoryNerd I don’t remember any time he complimented George or Ringo, either. It’s no surprise that John was not the one who wrote the line, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

Paul McCartney reveals John Lennon complimented him exactly once in their entire songwriting partnership The most successful songwriting duo in history wrote together for roughly a decade. They produced the catalogue that reshaped popular music. And in all that time, by Paul's own account, John praised his work to his face on a single occasion. Asked whether he and John were competitive as writers, Paul doesn't hesitate: "Yeah, we were competitive. Yeah. Not openly, but we later admitted, yeah, you know, so Paul's written a good one there. I better get going." The rivalry ran underneath everything. One would hear the other's new song, register it as a challenge, and quietly raise his own game. Paul describes the internal monologue plainly: "That's a bit good. Right. Here we go. Come on." He gives a concrete example of how this shaped the catalogue. When John wrote "Strawberry Fields Forever," reaching back into his Liverpool childhood, Paul answered with a song reaching back into his own: "If he'd written Strawberry Fields, I would write Penny Lane. You know, he's remembering his old area in Liverpool. So, I'll remember for mine." Two of the most beloved songs in the Beatles catalogue, written as quiet returns of serve. Then comes the part that lingers. Asked whether they complimented each other when one wrote something great, Paul answers: "Once." Once. In all those years of writing together. The one time it happened, Paul remembers exactly which song it was. "Here, There and Everywhere," from Revolver: "John sort of just when it finishes wrote a really good song that I love that song. And I was like, 'Yes, he likes it.' You know, I've remembered it to this day. It's pathetic really." Decades on, he still remembers the moment. He calls his own remembering of it pathetic, but the fact that he remembers at all says something about what a word from John was worth to him. Asked whether he ever returned the praise, Paul is more generous about himself, with a caveat: "Yeah, I would tell him his stuff was great. You'd normally have to be a little bit drunk. It helped."

In 1704, Scottish sailor Alexander Selkirk refused to board a ship he believed was too damaged to survive at sea. After arguing with the captain, he was left alone on a remote Pacific island. Moments later, he regretted the decision and begged to be taken back, but the ship sailed away without him. Weeks later, the ship sank. Selkirk survived alone on the island for more than four years before finally being rescued. His incredible story later inspired the classic novel Robinson Crusoe

These NYT judges for the 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters justifying Billy Joel not being picked for the list is as appalling as it is insufferable. First year Uni/College student style pontificating at its worst. The full list is in the post below. Taylor Swift is on it…

@RockNRoLL_85 Before he turned into a cartoon character, Elton John put out some of the best music of the 70s. Great songs with great lyrics that had more impact than most of the others on this list. He gets overlooked now because of his excesses, but there was a time when he was a star

Unfortunately, Elton John became his own cartoon character, but during the early 70s turned out some of the best songs of that era. He’s a great musician and Bernie Taupin had a special talent with lyrics. I think he probably had more impact on Music than the others on this list.

@RoyRogers_HTMS You forgot to mention how a 12 string enriches the sound produced by regular guitars. As you are listening to classic rock Music, pay attention to how many of the greatest include 12 string guitars, acoustic or electric.

🎸 Guitar Inspiration There’s something magical about the way a guitar can turn silence into emotion. Whether it’s the warmth of an old acoustic, the growl of a vintage Les Paul, or just the simple act of letting your fingers find the notes… guitars have a way of speaking when words fall short. What inspired you to start playing Guitar 🎸 ?

Uriah Heep released their fourth studio album “Demons and Wizards” on this day in 1972. It was the band’s first album to incorporate fantasy and mystical elements to its lyrics, perfectly matching the aesthetic of the cover art. Thoughts? Favourite tracks? #UriahHeep

Didn’t Fender learn from Gibson spending around $3 million in legal fees only to recover about $168k from Dean Guitars? Now Fender is going after everyone copying Strat shapes too? Looks like history repeating itself with some very expensive lessons being ignored in the guitar world 😂 #GuitarLawsuits

I want to keep this a secret so I will post it here on my X account. Paul McCartney was and will always be my favorite musician. He always had a voice that could do anything, from soft to screaming, from low to falsetto. Add that to the songs he wrote all these years, and he was Special. That’s why I wish he would not have kept performing after his voice no longer sounded like Paul McCartney. He kept that voice for 60 years, and I would rather have remembered his legacy up through age 80. Since then, no matter how many excuses you make, this is no longer Paul McCartney that we’ve always known and is now someone that looks like Paul McCartney, but is no longer a pleasure to listen to. Too late now, it can’t be undone, so let it be. In the end, I hope the love he has taken is equal to the love he has made to his fans all these yesterdays. As I said, I want to keep this a secret so I am posting it here.

@JagsRippin @nicksortor But it made Meg Ryan unhappy, and I don’t think she ever deserves to be unhappy. Besides, Tom Cruise sang You Lost That Lovin Feeling in a variety of keys, which was almost as bad as the plane crash itself. I say again, poor Goose…
