@cal1g1rl78 Hello my friend, beautiful sentiment, but that so does not sound like a John Lennon quote IMHO - you have to be careful with these kind of things.

@TylerGalpin @MikeIsaac You can have an aptitude for something, which is great, but that doesn't mean you can't become very proficient at it with discipline if you don't have that aptitude. That innate ability doesn't amount to much without effort.

@CricketMagazine You've owed me over $3000, and it's been over three years. I illustrated a cover and two articles. My agent sent multiple e-mails. We sent you to a collections agency. We filed with the better business bureau. You still haven't paid. Pay your artists!

@Rahll I imagine that the people championing this shit have never employed the effort, time and vision to make actual art before. Unless you bother to write something or draw something legitimately novel, it's all going to be some regurgitated version of what's been done before.

Tech bros don't even try to hide it anymore. They want us to totally rethink copyright law in the AI landscape solely because they want to make money off you without paying you, and AI finally presents that opportunity for them.

@Rahll "Prowess?" what a very odd choice of words. Things that have prowess are usually predators.

It really feels like AI folks think images just come fully formed in artists heads, and we just trace from our minds into reality. So much happens during exploration and execution, that the final is rarely what you first imagined and that's a big part of why it's uniquely yours.

@badenglishtea @Rahll You can also leverage a financial institution to massively improve your income by robbing a bank. At least that would be more ethical.

@Rahll It's only a bubble purely in the form of aggressive speculation rn. Valuations will drop if macro slips (likely) But the technology is real/here to stay. It is extremely disruptive to almost every industry. Creatives can leverage open source AI to massively improve their output

"It will contain acres of Nvidia GPU clusters able to train the world’s largest AI models," says Oracle founder. Apparently it's 7-10 years out, which will be long past when the bubble bursts. Maybe in time for the next grift though. tomshardware.com/tech-industry/…

@kyletwebster I think your brushes are amazing, but what I need to be able to cross over is layer options comparable to photoshop. Affinity has some of these options. But I would love to see Procreate catch up!

Olive is in the Society of Illustrator's Original Art Show! This is separate from the SOI Annual, in which it will also be featured.

@andrewfarago Those architectural details! When so many artists are just tracing from google earth these days, it's nice to see. And of course his beautiful figures, lighting, everything he does well.

@sisboombahbah @Rahll I don't doubt that it moved people. False premise: that you can't make art without a trust fund or special privileges. The best artists I know can make art with a stick and mud. People are making art everywhere that doesn't involve the theft of intellectual property.

This isn't remotely true. The only people who believe this are AI prompt pushers who don't know anything about art and can't be bothered to learn. Anything "artistic" AI does is entirely possible with other methods—this is a time, skill, or funding issue, not a technical one.

@kyletwebster This is huge. If they haven't already edged out Photoshop's lead, they will soon. I hope they become the industry standard. However, I'm still using CS6 on old Mac because there are some things procreate still can't do that photoshop can. More features please!

This is total nonsense. Protecting literally everyone's intellectual and personal property from being unfairly used in AI training won't prevent people from creating freely or somehow make corporations stronger. That's just the new narrative desperate AI folks are latching onto.
