From an outside perspective it's truly amazing to me that Kyle Whittingham was handled the way he was by the Ute Admin. From my perspective, Whittingham is Ute football. What he did with that program was phenomenal. Build him a statue, name the stadium after him. He deserved all of it. An admin that didn't understand this, or didn't want to, is a dereliction, at least from my perspective. Whittingham was and always should have been Ute football and allowed to call his own shots. He earned that right. To me, it's hard to believe that the Ute admin handled it the way it did. But it's been hard to me to believe several actions of the Ute admin in recent years. Anyway, tell me I'm wrong, Ute fans. But that's the way I see it.

College football is dominated by blue bloods. To see a team like Indiana win it all is just good for the soul. Go Hoosiers.

@JeepingUte @BabushkaUU Yeah I hear you. And again, this is all just my speculation, but I think the money talks less when the guys feel like there’s a great chance to win a championship, make playoff, etc. next yr. And now there’s a lot of uncertainty about that with all the staff turnover

@GoodSirHamlet @BabushkaUU Could certainly be true. Part of the frustration is my refusal to accept that Utah is now just a destination for guys to develop and get huge raises via the portal and top-tier programs. That’s where we’re at in the pecking order and it blows.

@JeepingUte @BabushkaUU I think the money helps shore up the overall financial situation. But I don’t think it’s gonna be a big increase in NIL IMO. Hopefully some. But guys like Snowden and Tao will almost surely (IMO) make more elsewhere than at Utah. Just my best estimation of it

@UteNationAlum I hope they can find those guys. I think it’s easier to retain players that know the program and have bought into the culture created by Scalley last year then to find transfers and convince them to buy in.

@JeepingUte These ones don’t shock me at all. Word on the street was that Snowden wanted to go to BYU last year. Let’s find some guys who are all in.

@TheStreak3 Maybe they have.. but does that excuse losing arguably the two best players you had in the secondary? Retaining your backups isn’t a good excuse for losing your starters.

@JeepingUte To be fair…how do you know they haven’t convinced others to stay out of the portal?

@GoodSirHamlet @BabushkaUU That could be part of it. But I thought Utah had all this money to spend now? If keeping the current high-level talent on the roster isn’t worth spending on, what exactly will be?

@BabushkaUU Don’t think it being expected changes the fact that it’s not a good look. Tao and Smith were two of the best defensive players we had. Recruited and coached by Scalley. Them immediately jumping in the portal is not a promising sign on how players feel about Utah w/o Whitt there.

If Texas Tech wants to know what it’s like to beat Oregon in the postseason all they gotta do is ask Utah

It’s gonna get really ugly when the U allows our best players to leave to other schools because they cheap out on them as well.

Why is nobody mad at the U administration, who sold out the program for $500M to private equity, yet still couldn’t muster up cash to retain some of the staff? To me that’s the real shame. I don’t blame anyone for taking the better offer and prioritizing their families

@BabushkaUU Any other program with Utah's resources would fall all over themselves to be lucky enough to continue a year by year cycle with Whitt. Utah got arrogant and forgot who the hell made them relevant in the first place. Now we all get to see the ramifications of that decision.

This is wildly oversimplifying everything. It’s nobody but Kyle’s fault that there was pressure for him to retire. He created that himself by openly stating many times he wouldn’t be still coaching today. Kyle wanted to continue this year by year cycle, and Utah said no.
JeepingUte@JeepingUte

Just an asinine take. What would you rather: - Lose Scalley - Lose Whitt, Harding, Beck, and all of our top offensive players Utah made a MASSIVE mistake and is about to pay dearly for it.

@TonyKorologos Feel for you, Tony. Had a similar thing happen to me last season. It sucks but you'll make a comeback. Best wishes for your recovery.

MRI results on my ski injury from 6 days ago are way worse than anticipated. I have two severe tears in the two main calf muscles. One is fully torn. Both are class 3, the worst classification. I talk to a doc in a week, but it looks like my ski season may be done.
