I started making YouTube videos in October of 2018. It was a fun hobby I wanted to try before graduating college. I remember pulling an all-nighter editing my first video for nearly 10 hours straight. I hit upload on that video & deleted it exactly 7 minutes later out of pure embarrassment. Man - I wish I had that video to look back on now! I remember carrying all my recording equipment at 6 a.m. each morning to an open classroom in the heart of winter - just so I could record a video before the 8 a.m. classes started. Sounds crazy thinking about that now. I'd never do that shit again. 😂 I remember being at a party in college & overhearing people making fun of me & the YouTube channel. I wasn't upset or angry at this - sure it didn't feel great - but I saw the potential for YouTube to become more than a creative outlet - and that's all that mattered to me. I had some traction early on - this helped. The traction had nothing to do with me (I stunk at the time) - but luckily the fantasy football niche was untapped on YouTube in 2018. During my first few years - I was focused on the numbers. I wanted to maximize views and subscribers. This did more harm than good. But as the years went on - I began to care more about the actual process of making videos. All I wanted to do was put out the best videos I could. I wanted to get 1% better with each upload. I wanted to post videos I was proud to put my last name behind. Now - I'm still not a fan of focusing on the numbers but the 100,000 subscriber mark is a win worth celebrating! I catch myself sometimes being extremely thankful that I live during a time where I can actually do this for a living (I mean seriously - how the fuck is this a job?!)... It's impossible to say where this will take me in another 6 years - but I'm eager to find out! 👊
