To me, it almost feels symbolic. A reflection of how he sees the galaxy: twisted, inverted. The Jedi Order falling, the dark side rising. Even something as simple as where he places his weapon shows he’s not just fighting the Jedi… he’s the opposite of them.

One detail I’ve always loved about Darth Maul is where he keeps his lightsaber. Unlike most Jedi who clip theirs on the left side of their belt, Maul carries his double-bladed saber on the right side of his waist.
