@ericmmatheny Flat fee tax. It doesn't matter if you make 1000 or 100 million. Everyone should be taxed equally depending upon government spending.

Flat tax. Whether you make $1000 or $100 million. A fixed percentage for everybody. And that’s it. A one-page tax form. No bullshit. Everybody pays a reasonable and equitable amount. Everyone - from the wealthiest to the poorest - have skin in the game.

It takes so long to unf*ck your head after quitting a job. I'm on year 3 and I am finally losing cached memory of the corp charades and nonsense people put up with daily in that environment. Can't even begin to describe how much it takes out of you until it's gone.

@dolores_road @frozenaesthetic Does baldness vary across the ethnic and racial spectrum or are we all non-diverse in this trait? Same for left v. right handedness. I think a lot could be see for either answer which would be interesting.

Since mutation occurs (supposedly) randomly, any number of traits can show up that simply don’t affect the selection process. Why do some men bald at 20 and others have full heads of hair for a century? Any “purpose” there? Looking for purpose or intention here is the mistake. To be better able to answer the handedness question, one would have to know the mechanism that causes handedness. Why isn’t it 50/50? Is it genetic? Is it epigenetic? Is the predominance of right-handedness due to left-brain logical dominance? This would generally stream with hand-eye coordination, since when you throw or shoot a missile, you are “intuitively” performing ballistics calculations —Newtonian Calculus. Those kinds of operations tend to be left-brained. Perhaps left-handedness was selective at one time, and that selection pressure no longer exists. Stable 10% over what time period we can see suggests there is no current selection pressure one way or another.

Left handed people existing breaks a rule in evolution that nobody can explain Only about 10% of the population is left handed and that number has stayed the same for 10,000 years It never goes up and never goes down Evolution isn't meant to work like that, traits spread because they are useful or die off because they aren't Left handedness doesn't do either and stays the same percentage across every culture, country and population They process fear differently and react faster to danger than right handed people They are different neurologically and slightly overrepresented in certain criminal populations and significantly overrepresented among US presidents The trait seems to produce extremes Ancient cultures were afraid of them, the word "sinister" originates from the Latin word "sinistra" which means "left" or "on the left side" 10% There's always 10% Never more It was decided that was the exact number needed in the population

This lady goes to the gas station like she always does on a normal day. But, as she uses her card which she knows has plenty of money in her account, the message “please see cashier” pops up. She’s not going inside. She’s leaving and going to another gas station. This has happened to me many times and I refuse to go inside because a gas station can’t fix their darn gas pumps. In fact, I won’t visit that gas station anymore. Has this ever happened to you? Did you go inside or did you leave and go to another gas station?

I wasted 20 minutes trying to change a phone number and address online with a state tolling agency, to get an "error" that points to nothing each time. I can update my password, and add credit cards and cars to my hearts delight. But they won't let me update my address.

We had never seen this in Canada; it was unheard of. I lived in Toronto, GTA, which was known as Tor. The good or hog town affectionately, Rosedale, one of the richest areas of Tor., is hiring security guards for foot patrols. They are living in fear of home invasions, break-ins, muggings, carjackings, etc. This is the new Canada. Tor. is no longer a European city over 70%, non-European, now experiencing white flight like the states.

Evolution does not work like that. 1) If a trait is adaptive, it will be selected for. 2) If a trait is maladaptive, it will be selected against. (Traits like a peacock’s tail are very physically maladaptive but extremely sexually adaptive, and sexual success wins — it’s almost definitionally what evolution works with.) 3) If there is no selective pressure on those traits, nothing gets selected, for or against. 4) Large populations don’t usually have selective pressures operating on them —everything gets washed out; reversion to the mean — so selection is most active in small, isolated populations. As far as your analysis goes, left-handedness would be at best marginally adaptive over right-handedness. Your comparison populations are relatively large. Therefore, you should expect little to no selective pressure either for or against left-handedness. You should instead expect a steady occurrence, fairly randomly distributed, which is indeed what you are reporting. (Eek! Em dashes! I must be an AI. Sorry, no.)

The ageism on social media is wild! Most recently, a young woman saying that men aged 40 or above shouldn’t go to live music events because it’s ’weird’. Really? Go fuck yourself. People, whatever their age, can enjoy whatever music they want to. And I’ll say nothing about the young folk prancing about in their Nirvana t-shirts who can’t name the bass player or name more than two songs off ‘Nevermind’.

Had a fun day today. 2 weeks ago an Indian (US Citizen) IT employee called ICE on his own department because he heard that many of them were here on fake H1-B Visas. 25 employees were arrested out of 100ish. He was correct. After talking to his leadership he also informed them that many here legally, but we're hired under false pretenses, because they had bought diplomas in India and never really got a degree. At this point management was worried they had been defrauded so they called me up to help them figure it out. We ran all of the remaining employees hiring paperwork through some AI analytics today. Massive amounts of documents. This included reading copies of diplomas, and and a ton of other personal documents. Training the AI analytics tool to look for irregularities in past work experience and education history. As an example: 1.) Check to see if the school exists 2.) Check to see if the person who signed the diploma actually worked at the university 3.) check to see if the degree listed is actually taught at that university 4.) ETC ETC ETC. We found that of the remaining 75 H1-b employees 50 of them had provided fake diplomas to either our company directly, or the contracting company they were hired through. So out of this one department of 250 people, 100 ish were from India here on visas, and 75 of them had defrauded the company during the hiring process. Either providing fake visa paperwork or falsification of education. Basically 75% lied. Not sure what they are going to do about it yet, as across the IT organization they have 1500 ish H1-B visa employees and they cannot fire 75% of them right now even if they wanted to, but I do know they are running all current visa employees records through the tool, any new applicants as well, and will be firing anyone who lied as soon as they get replacement in line for them. From the leadership I was working with: "We have to remove them, we cannot keep employees who defraud the company even if they are good and cheap"

Let me tell you what it is like living in a red state. - I pay 3% state income taxes, versus 13.3% in California and potentially 16.8% in NYC - Property taxes lowest in the country. A typical 2,000 square foot middle class home will pay about $750 a year. - No mass transit that breaks down all the time - Massive economic development; everyone wants to move here - People are civil to each other on roads because everyone has guns in their cars - You generally don't hear swearing in public (or even private) places - No spitting, littering, and certainly no crapping on the sidewalk - The homeless drug addicts live in the woods and don't panhandle you - There's a bad section of town, but if you don't go in it, you have practically zero chance of being victim of a crime. And the bad section isn't that bad. - You're more likely to hear a racial slur in New York than you are here - Politicians are fighting over how fast to lower taxes - Education is better while spending half as much per student - Still a healthy discourse--in spite of all the Trump stickers on cars, there are No Kings rallies here, too, though people mostly ignore them - Real estate values going up, not down - Developments with thousands of houses going in all over the place - 235 days of sunlight a year. 110 in NYC. The downside? Almost impossible to get an abortion, but you can just go to another state if you're motivated enough. Blue states are so screwed.

In corporate America, margins are thin. Corporatist always think the 4 dollar bread, or even the 1 olive is the make or break problem. Because their viewpoint is so ridiculous to begin with. Their hero is the guy who cut 1 olive from a meal at an airline who saved the company.
daz@MetamateDaz

I wish more people understood $4 coffees and avocado toast isn’t the problem. It’s the: – $950 car payment – $300 credit card bill – $2,800 daycare –$800 student loans – $4,400 rent This is why most supposedly well paid job feel like a struggle.
