@NILnotNLI Rightfully so. Elite level tennis players have other options to continue playing competitive tennis tournaments. Tennis in college is not a big spectator sport either. Many D1 tennis players are international students also. This all adds up to the right decision for cuts.

Florida’s management and expansion of Gulf red snapper season has been a major boon for communities along the Gulf Coast, allowing many more Floridians and visitors alike to enjoy the red snapper our waters have to offer.
This year, our Gulf red snapper season—which kicks off on May 22—will be the longest recreational season on record, a total of 140 days. Red snapper fishing in Florida is a great way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday this year!

It was a pleasure to sit down with Kira K. Dixon at Augusta.
We talked about the growth of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, my own journey into golf, and why these two weeks in April are so special.

@Ducnghia16 It happens a lot. And definitely with this band.

Very rarely does a live version of a song surpass the original studio recordings, this is definitely one of them!
This song was written by Lindsey Buckingham during his breakup with Stevie Nicks while recording Rumours. Though Stevie was hurt by the lyrics and asked him to change them, he refused, and she still recorded backing vocals despite their intense studio conflicts.

@DavidSundevils @jon_wertheim @AndrewBrandt @ITA_Tennis Then you are not talking about the facility crisis mentioned in the article…
English

@Jeff_Menaker @jon_wertheim @AndrewBrandt @ITA_Tennis What is your conference? I’m talking about the Power 4 conferences plus schools like Pepperdine, etc.
English

This from @AndrewBrandt newsletter - and he's right. This is officially a crisis for @ITA_Tennis to confront; the ground is moving too fast for sternly-worded statements...

English

@DavidSundevils @jon_wertheim @AndrewBrandt @ITA_Tennis You are also very wrong that a majority of D1s have have very good tennis facilities. I can’t think of one in my D1 conference.
English

@Jeff_Menaker @jon_wertheim @AndrewBrandt @ITA_Tennis You didn’t mention a single instance of where this regional hub would work. The fact is that most D1 tennis programs have very good tennis facilities. So who would share? UCLA/USC are reasonably close together but both have excellent facilities. Stanford & Cal? Both are great!
English

@zager1025 Majority of colleges nationwide are in metro areas. The previous article, mentioned in the first sentence, challenges USTA to help on-campus renovations as well.
English

@Jeff_Menaker What activities would take place at these hubs? Seems it makes total sense in (mostly NE) metros with high density of colleges, but distance from campus would be too far for practice/training in much of the country. Or do you envision including housing?
English

Here I argue that USTA should be building regional “College Tennis Centers” and supporting regional community hubs.

English

@DavidSundevils @jon_wertheim @AndrewBrandt @ITA_Tennis You’re missing the context. USC & UCLA don’t need facility upgrades. Regional tennis hubs would be strategically placed.
Read the last sentence.

Schools are cutting sports programs — even at P4 schools — and of course the narrative blames high-paid athletes, lawyers, agents. Not true.
The real causes: a higher-ed economy under pressure and decades of NCAA and school mismanagement.

English

@ITA_Tennis The USTA needs to step up its facility commitment across the country. $2.6M is embarrassing when the Honey Deuce alone brought in $17M in 3 weeks.

@ITA_Tennis In this piece, I argue that NIL spending be tied to the number of Olympic sports a school sponsors. The more sports sponsored, the more a school can spend in NIL money for football and basketball.
playthelet.wordpress.com/2026/05/07/new…
English

@mrsbirdf @ITA_Tennis Focus on the macro. Hundreds of roster spots are being lost to NIL professionalization, education cuts and school closures. Internationals who get here are here because they’re good. That isn’t the reason the number of roster spots are shrinking.
English

@ITA_Tennis What in the world. Not one use of the word “American” in this statement. Your stance and that of the NCAA is putting the future of American tennis at risk as you are closing off access to programs. This requires not nuanced discussions but real leadership!

NCAA men’s tennis Sweet 16 snapshot — by my count:
20 American starters in 96 singles spots.
12 from just two teams: Stanford and Ohio State.
That leaves 8 American starters across the other 14 teams.
The issue is the overall numbers — and what they mean for American players below the elite level.
English

@PatrickMcEnroe That’s a snapshot of the top teams and doesn’t solve the fundamental financial restructuring from NIL.
