@BaxtyB Not really gone early, the funny thing with them stats is Kimi has seen the chequered flag more times as a 19 year old than Max ever did. Owing mainly to Red Bulls horrendous reliability in 2017.

@F1WDC2021 What makes you think the above rear is more than 10mm?

To be clear, I want someone to challenge my interpretation of the definitions of the volumes and my assertion that the Straight Mode flap position cannot be more than 10mm above the top of the Rear Endplate.

Can we discuss the @redbullracing Rear Wing Flap. #F1 #MiamiGP Is seems to breach Art C3.11.1a, being significantly proud of the endplate when in Straight Mode. The maximum allowed difference is 10mm. The wing is definately more than 10mm proud of the end plate. See next post for relevant regs

@FormulaPace Whilst it’s an interesting talking point, this battle won’t show us much especially with the car and team where it is. The only real session I can see for a fair comparison this season was Japan qualifying with Checo ahead. But this was always going to be a close battle.

Can’t expect much in terms of context from these lot but here’s what really happened: Bottas clearly had some kind of issue in the 1st stint (was doing high 38s on the Hards when others were in the high 37s). I’d suspect due to Hard tyres + high fuel + cold = massive graining which is what we saw. Perez’s medium stint was in the mid-high 37s around half a second quicker than the Astons behind both on Mediums. Bottas’ medium stint was lapping in the mid-high 36s whereas the Astons in the low 37s both on Mediums. Applying fuel-correction (0.03s) once again confirms Bottas and Perez being equal on the Mediums. On the Hards however, Bottas was 2-3s slower than anyone else which is clearly not representative pace. 1 week ago, Bottas finished 20s ahead and outqualified Checo by 1.5s but nothing was said. Focusing on drivers in the slowest car for a team who aren’t at the level of any other is a new level of cope and damage control. Using unrepresentative laps 2-3s off the pace just to push a silly agenda about Hamilton is an all-time low
hunt@hunttline

“Bottas” foi considerado por muito tempo como um segundo piloto de elite, e diziam que Pérez (para desmerecer Verstappen) não servia pra ser motorista de ônibus. Vamos observar o desenrolar da situação. #F1

@nws13 @F1JayyUK @Formuladdict @Radityo_utomo What a weird response. Again, how is Franco supposed to know the 60kph difference? This is an unfortunate incident due to the power unit regs causing huge differentials.

@nws13 @F1JayyUK @Formuladdict @Radityo_utomo That’s irrelevant. You said he moved under braking, he didn’t. If every driver took the perfect line in a race, they’d be no overtakes. Drivers won’t always take the perfect line, this issue came about for one reason and that’s PU regs making massive speed differentials.

@nws13 @F1JayyUK @Formuladdict @Radityo_utomo I think that’s harsh on Colapinto, He didn’t move under braking as they weren’t at the braking zone. He also wouldn’t have known there was 60kph speed differential. This is unfortunately an effect of the PU rules, it’s been suggested a big accident would happen, it now has.

@Tom97___ Agree. One of the things this reg set has done that’s not bad is make the start’s unpredictable. Kimi was p6 by turn 2 but at the end of the first lap on the straight, he just simply coasted past someone for position like they weren’t there & that’s frustrating to watch.

F1 is in a weird place for me at the moment. I've given it 3 races to gather some thoughts and I've got really mixed feelings. I'm leaning towards these regulations being negative on a 60/40 split (I'm close to 50/50). 1️⃣🟢 The racing has improved. We're getting far more overtakes and that makes the races easier to watch. More overtakes is never a bad thing! 2️⃣🟡 However, I can't shake off the thought, the methods of those overtakes we see go against what F1 stands for. 3️⃣🟡 Also, Tyres mean very little in race strategies in 2026 which is a shame, as the Hybrid is the protagonist. If they had equal importance, F1 would be a strategic chess match! 4️⃣🔴 The biggest gripe for me is Qualifying. Regardless of the hybrid/combustion split, F1 cars should be able to go 'Flat Out' for at least 1 Hot Lap, and that isn't the case in 2026.

People obviously focussing on the Mercedes battle and an excellent win for Kimi Antonelli, but I feel for Oscar Piastri today. Safety car hurt him in what was a fantastic drive. Title battle quickly becoming a 2 horse race. Kimi’s improved massively, George also unlucky today.

Super clipping is the worst thing to happen in for F1 tech/pu regs since the 05 ‘one set of tyres’ rule. There surely has to be a sensible way to solve this & as quickly as possible. The fact they’re cutting from pole position onboards, the essence of F1 on the limit, is telling.

I had this theory that a F1 driver hit the ultimate peak when Schumacher dominated. Then the Vettel & Hamilton generation dominated & I thought that was the peak. Then the Verstappen generation came along & exceeded that. Are the likes Antonelli/ Hadjar/ Bearman the next peak?

Going to try and focus on the positive aspects of F1 this weekend and the fact that after 3 race weekends that Cadillac are qualifying at around 2.2 seconds off of the fastest time in a Q1 is an excellent effort for the team.

@BradleyPhilpot Far too early to judge for 2026. Visibly, the cars look much better. Battles have been excellent especially wheel to wheel but do feel a touch artificial. Super clipping in qualifying is the worst thing so far in new regs. Also, 4 cars not starting a Grand Prix is horrendous.

@TheTechnician44 I don’t get what this tells us? All you have to do to get this is divide the difference in time at the last lap by 58. You might as well just look at the race results.

Far too many F1 fans concerned with race pace data! It’s like F1’s equivalent of football’s xG. Call me simple but the driver who wins the race has the best race pace, the one that finishes 2nd has the 2nd etc etc etc. Qualifying data is more useful but not perfect.

@MattP1Tommy Still needs to time to fully assess. Australia did remind me of Canada 2010 though. First 10/15 laps were all over the place, couldn’t keep up. But past the first VSC, nothing too much happened. Not a fan of the super clipping at all, don’t know who is? Hopefully get less of that

Completely pointless observation and opinion from the Australian Grand Prix race today…. That fifth red light went out WAY too fast. I think the 5th light should be on for at least 3 seconds to build the tension.

I consider myself a realist and don’t believe in supernatural nonsense! But the continuous troubles of Australian drivers in the Australian Grand Prix is making seriously consider if curses are real! Gutted for Piastri!

@F1_Jordan Too early to ask the question. Seeing how the season unfolds will give more clarity. That being said, I still think there was a contractual element that stopped him.

A question that I haven’t actually seen anyone ask yet. If you are Max Verstappen, are you now regretting not going to Mercedes while Toto Wolff was rolling out the red carpet for you to do so?

@HillF1 I think the cars look much better on the eye when attacking corners and generally all round it feels faster than previous regs. I just can’t see how anyone looks at the ‘super clipping’ and thinks yeah that’s a good thing.
