Dietrich Bonhoeffer was 30 years old when he wrote, “When Christ calls a man, He bids him come and die”, in his classic book, “The Cost of Discipleship”. 8 years later, on April 9th, 1945, he was stripped and hanged in a concentration camp for crimes against Hitler’s Third Reich.

Some ministry news I wish to share. These are very normal things. And, in this case, concerns a plan that’s been in place for several years. We just didn’t want a 3-year farewell. Lol. That would be a bit much. The letter I wrote beneath the video on YouTube will also help explain. Not retiring. Just laying aside some of the heavier responsibilities so I can spend my last chapter teaching, speaking and writing but not overseeing a busy ministry. I won’t pretend I’ve not cried 10,000 tears and 1000 of them this morning because I love my LPM/LPL teams so much and I can’t even picture the other side without all of them in my constant life. But it is crucial that we make this transition not only for me in my aging but for them in their own vocations so they are set free with my blessing to pursue their next chapters. Racism is an affront to God who lovingly creates all people in His image. It is a myopic, idolatrous denial of the love and justice of God. Like all societal and structural sin, there is complicity in silence. Sadly, racism doesn’t just disappear, it adapts. Be the difference.

He would call us to abandon “cheap grace” and re-center our lives on costly discipleship. He would urge us to prioritize the oppressed. He would warn us against aligning faith with political power, and he would challenge us to follow Christ’s example of suffering for the truth.

1/12 A Day of reckoning is coming. Righteousness and justice is what we need from our leaders right now, and it is being revealed. If you feel powerless, you are not. If you are confused and feel hopeless, you don’t need to be.
