Female Link essentially, yes it's a gender bent link, that was the intention. They could always bring her back and introduce her into canon like they did virtually every other side character and enemy.

If you actually played the game, you'd know that she's literally a joke character.
She thinks she's the Hero of Hyrule when there's already a hero, and she constantly gets lost despite wearing a COMPASS around her neck.
She's well-meaning and heroic, but she's not the Hero.

This is not a good thing. You know why a lot of asymms fail? Because players in the larger group like to gang up on the single player. That means no one wants to play the single player.
