@Scienceofsport I’d say give him a chance. Look at Kimi Antonelli in F1.

Seixas to the TDF: most of the opposition is around the “pressure” they’d be putting a 19-year old under. But I think you can make a case that it’ll never be lower than it is now. Expectations will rise as he matures, and presumably wins more, so a deliberate decision to delay…

Contrary to earlier reports, the Junior Boks still need one more log point. They haven't won TRC title... yet! There was a mix-up regarding the bonus point rules for this tournament, and that's led to confusion around the log 🤷 Report and explainer here:rugby365.com/countries/arge…

@KelRo736 We’re on such a good trajectory. Hoping some more of our field athletes will also start competing at the top and competing for podium positions. Administrators must just keep their house clean.

Thanks - IIRC we won and held the silver for 4 years before the US doping ban had us elevated to the gold. It was a strange feeling, receiving that after the Athens Olympics. I don't feel like we ever had enough quality athletes to truly push each other. We're seeing records - national and continental, even world - more often, and we've managed to edge Canada, Olympic champions, fairly easily even without Dambile and Walaza being fit. A lot more young athletes coming through and there are a lot more opportunities to hone their craft. We also get to see them develop - and if we do, so do coaches who might not otherwise be hanging around a track. Just have to get that balance right between reasonable expectation and undue pressure. I also wonder if Akani, amongst everything else he has done (and while I want medals for him, this will always mean more), set the trend for athletes to remain at home for training. Around the same time, swimmers chose to do the same thing and we have home grown swimmers as well as athletes being our standout performers. I got into an awkward spot with that comment with a particular gold medallist who did no stay, but it's all about the choice. You can't fault those who stuck around and perhaps it's a "what if" thing for older Olympians. That's turning into a tangent, though. I'm just proud of the attitude of the entire team - possibly another positive to spending time together - and their genuine happiness. I only hope this is the mark of an era free of any off court/track/field and out of pool drama, touch wood. No administrative nightmares - I believe we've had our fair share for a while.

@KelRo736 I enjoyed reading your post. Took me back when we'd have a couple decent sprinters, who'd bomb at majors. Remember the 2001 gold we won at the World Champs in Canada? We flattered to deceive back then. Now we have a solid crop.

Crazy that South Africa ran an African Record of 37.49s despite not having both Bayanda Walaza & Sinesipho Dambile. Lead leg Mvuyo Moss was called up just TWO DAYS before the start of the meet, for what was his senior international debut.
