Christian, if you grew up hearing that there were only a few kinds of art that believers could make, I'm sorry. If your vision of the arts was that Christians don't really participate in them, I feel for you. Truly. You were given a bad vision of the arts and beauty. Here is the truth: assuming godly morality, you are LIBERATED BY CHRIST to produce beauty. God, after all, is the God of beauty (Psalm 50:2). From that foundation, you are free to create beautiful music, art, literature, painting, sculpture, dance, and much more. The gospel is not a weight around your neck, drowning your creativity in the murky depths. The gospel is wings on your back. As the arts get plasticized through AI in days ahead, I urge you in love: create beauty. In godly character and commitment, produce excellence. Try. Fail. Try again. You are joyfully free to make beautiful things for God's glory. Nothing is holding you back. Be free, Christian!

When I was in college, I went to see Skillet perform with Papa Roach on the “Monsters of Annihilation” tour. To this day, one of the most chaotic concerts I’ve ever been to. John Cooper got up on stage in a room full of vaguely high/drunk metalheads. Declared that all their music had a point, that life was worth living, and told that audience that their only hope lay in the name of Jesus. I’ve never seen anything like it before or since.
