I would also expect a more advanced civilisation to look down on what we do to animals three times a day, but that’s a whole different issue.

The fundamentalist religious people will have great difficulty in accepting it. The more spiritual, open-minded ones should be able to adapt. But, yes, dogmatic religious people will suffer. But they won’t be alone. There are plenty of diehard skeptics who will have their worlds fall apart as well.

Most of the people who understand the true nature of our system will see it as a beacon of hope.

You’re over-estimating millions of people’s ability to handle the magnitude of something like this. Look no further than how many people freaked out and lost their damn minds over Covid in 2020. And that was nothing compared to the paradigms that will be shattered with this. I used to think like you, but now I know that a large portion of humanity won’t handle it well at all.
