You often hear Toronto is broken and the narrative around that, including all the bad things happening in this city and not to discount that, but there is a ton of goodness in this city — and people who help each other when crises, both big and small hit. Toronto is good.

The first person to come and help was an older Black woman, who helped me just make sure his body was in a comfortable state and began praying. It was, in that moment and time, rather soothing and helpful in its own way
