My son's teacher texted me very upset he had brought a copy of @StephenKing 's Cujo to class. He's 11. He loves reading. She sent me a random quote from Goodreads of all places to prove the book was too mature, violent and sexual for 5th grade. She was trying to shame me. I proudly told her I'm thrilled my son is such an enthusiastic reader, as I'm a novelist and screenwriter, and I believe there's nowhere better than books for children to learn about life. And that btw horror writers are the nicest people in the world. She sent him home with a copy of The Hunger Games....not kidding.
