I was getting body shamed at dinner. My little brother ended it in one sentence. My uncle’s been making comments about my body since I was 12. Always loud enough for everyone to hear. Always with that smug little smile. This year at Thanksgiving, I reached for a second piece of bread and he goes, “Better slow down. Boys don’t marry girls with thunder thighs.” A few people laughed. I froze. My mom just looked down like she always does. Then my little brother put down his fork and said, “Uncle Rick, haven’t you been divorced three times? Maybe stop giving dating advice.” The whole table went silent. My uncle stood up and walked out without another word. My brother just passed me the bread basket and said, Eat. You’re perfect.

This is an Alberta Emergency Alert. Alberta RCMP have issued a Dangerous Person Alert. This alert is in effect for northwestern Alberta, between Grande Prairie, Rycroft, and the B.C. border. An extremely dangerous man, Curtis Halliday, has multiple firearms and has already shot at multiple individuals near Grande Prairie. Curtis is 6 foot 3, caucasion with brown eyes and brown hair. He is on the run in a black 2022 Ford F-350, licence plate CMZ0105. Curtis was last known to be in the area northwest of Grande Prairie near LaGlace. If you are in areas bounded by Grande Prairie on the southeast, west along Highway 43 to the B.C. border, and along Highway 2 north to Rycroft and west to the B.C. border along Highway 49, be on the lookout for a man driving this vehicle.
