What’s an opinion about parenting that will get you into this situation with other parents?

I had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy almost immediately after TN’s trigger law prohibiting abortion went into effect. I was lucky to get swift care without question, but the law was so vague, it could have easily ensnared me — so vague that even in the immediate aftermath of one of the worst days of my life, I helped my own doctors fix the law to ensure that ectopic pregnancy was recognized for what it was, a life threatening medical emergency. I say this because TN’s new provision allowing for the *death penalty* for abortion is so vaguely worded that a disastrous scenario is possible, one that punishes a woman like me for a choice she *did not have.* Care for an ectopic pregnancy isn’t an elective abortion, even the Catholic Church recognizes this, but the TN law didn’t and doesn’t, at least not in a way that fully protects women. I’m as pro-life as they come, to the degree that I am anti-war *and* against the death penalty. And we cannot be so callous with our commitment to the dignity of the human person and the sanctity of life as to simply call for someone’s murder if they are not adequately protected by the system of justice.
