Following a series of communications, sportswear company @ASICSamerica has informed @AWAction_News that it will stop using kangaroo skin by the end of 2025: "We place great importance on ethical sourcing" and "have successfully developed high-performance alternatives to kangaroo leather." This announcement comes just six days after @adidas joined Nike, Puma and New Balance in making the same #KangaroosAreNotShoes pledge. @MizunoSportsUSA - when will you too announce a kangaroo-free policy?

Almost a year has elapsed since @adidas CEO, Bjorn Gulden, publicly acknowledged at his company's Annual General Meeting that the kangaroo hunt in Australia is "terrible" and indicated that #adidasFootball would soon stop making soccer cleats with kangaroo skin. @adidasfootball - if you know that kangaroos and their joeys are victims of extreme violence, then why are you still using k-leather? Like Nike, Puma and New Balance, which have stopped killing kangaroos, you already have access to high-performance, #crueltyfree materials that can replace it. In Soho (NYC shopping district), hundreds of pedestrians stopped in their tracks to watch a mobile billboard showing video footage of commercial hunters in Australia killing wild kangaroos for Adidas, which makes soccer cleats out of their skin.
