😥 Always conduct yourself in a manner as if you were being filmed, as well as the outright assault, there are the microagressions we as professionals need to be aware of - eye rolls, sighs - how would you want to be treated? theguardian.com/society/2022/s…

I said to one OT at the rehab that I didn't think I would be able to do a show to 100s of children in a theatre again. She said I would. This year, I did a show to 100s at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. A woman with her kids asked me to sign a book. It's me, she said. It was the OT.

@themoho_ot @vickiellenOT @jamieson2015 It absolutely is, and I like the use of the word "advocating" as this is often such a big part of our role when we become invested in "the person". We are so often asked what can't they do....

@vickiellenOT @JennyHunterAPOT @jamieson2015 It’s sits on my desk and I refer to it daily, particularly when developing goals with those one my case load and when advocating for them in MDTs and ward rounds. Occupational identity is often one of the biggest barriers for those who I work with.

@CByford97 The marking we use about joining in, is regards patient care, I actively encourage students to go out, go for a walk, as the process can be tiring and I feel the students can need a bit of time away from being "supervised"

@shivanitheOT I literally just suggested to a student today to make sure she has her "spiel" ready and rehearsed 😃

Question: what do you say when someone asks ‘what is occupational therapy, what do you do’? Sometimes I freeze and don’t know what to even say 😂 #OT

On my leave, decided to have a week just for me and my mental health, easier to help others when you practice what you preach. So completed a wee solo mountain climb!

Rescued these sad looking perennials from the supermarket so cheap today, doused with water and feed hopefully ready to plant with patients tomorrow to brighten the outdoor environment!

Massive thanks to Lynette #garrionbridgegardencentre for this incredibly generous donation for one of our courtyards (and this is not all! We have some in another courtyard) Our patients have enjoyed spending time arranging ready to complete the planting.

Often it is "can't", not "won't" engage, if it was that easy, then why the referral. I always respond to "not today", with "can I come back?". Consent to that, means there is a chance.

#occupationaltherapists: we need to be honest with ourselves when we consider how we respond to people who don't engage with our services. Are they really "hard to reach" or is it that they are "easy to ignore"? #RCOT2021 @theRCOT
