@paquette_jim Ok, basically 3 years & they go in the black. Makes sense. Right call is know what wins & drop football (I know, stadium& $). Bigger isn’t always better. Worst part is that they just experienced a “national conference” & it didn’t work. Better conference but I predict same result

@JeremyDuffy You are correct on UConn football & about branding. BIG EAST works because it is a basketball centric conference. BTW, BE distributes about $5m/year to each school. BIG 12 will be about $30m/year.

The financial reality is UConn Athletics had a operating deficit of $50m which is not sustainable for a public institution.

UConn's athletic department was reportedly $53 million dollars in debt in 2022. And according to the Hartford Courant in 2019, the Huskies would have to pay a $30 million dollar exit fee to leave the Big East. That's a lot of calamari. courant.com/sports/uconn-h…
