Sad news overnight with the passing of Tamworth trainer Steve Meyer who took his only horse in work to Scone yesterday, he was kicked and sadly passed away. 🥲@SkyRacingAU

@TRGMikeWood @blake_shinn Country is often not an option. Look for how many open handicap options. 63-65kg in bush country cups, no chance in new Big Dance country cups (couldn’t even get in local scone cup) Not Saturday metro ability. Retire only option. Waste of a fit healthy happy horse.

Disagree with this. We encourage good competitive racing in Aus with high prizemoney and low incentives for pulling a horse up (unlike in some other countries). Horses that don’t perform for an extended period do slide down the ratings and the country system is a great next step if horses don’t measure up to city grade.

Handicapping system in Australia needs an overhaul. I believe the Australia rating system is flawed. The fact we have countless horse’s struggling to win a race for over a year proves this…🤷‍♂️

@blake_shinn No reward for older consistent horses. Win 5-6 races and you’re out of options. Another retired racehorse adding to the biggest threat to the industry.

@byronrogers73 Overall miles of high intensity work greater with race spacing. Work load between runs much reduced by shorter backup. Base and condition before beginning faster work and racing a much bigger factor rarely recorded? These statistics only tell a fraction of the story.

@Pullthepocket Modern studies show clear proof: horses recover better, stay sounder, and perform better with 21–35 days between races (peak around 28–35). Short cycles (like 10–14 days) lead to cumulative muscle, tendon, and bone stress that we can now measure.

Not normally an umpire basher. Tough with the games speed now on a lot of holding the ball, prior and throws but a few howlers with massive implications last night. Rachele tunnel ball throw, overturned snap and those two pushing free kicks were unnecessary shockers. Some game.

@RacingPedigrees But the harbour is full on them. Focus on making the owner feel good about being involved in something bigger than themselves that involves lots of interesting people, racing horses is never going to make much sense financially

@RacingPedigrees Any while I agree that too much money goes to some races, redistributing this excess would only have a minor effect the prize money the average horse wins. People do lots of activities for reasons beyond money such as status, enjoyment, legacy etc. Yachts make no financial sense

@RacingPedigrees Better race programming for average and older horses would mean you could run just as many races with a smaller horse population. This would also prolong the racing life of many horses and reduce the number of horses who retire too early.

Alex Carey now one of the stars of the game. Keeping at elite level, He’d be there as a top order batsman alone. Value as tactician and team member immense. Seems a top bloke. Can someone please give me some personal or physical flaw I can pass on to my wife……anything! TIA

Help needed. Ok F1 fans I need to settle an argument. Is it the exact same person handling the right from wheel gun on Lando Norris’s car during a pit stop in a race as it is handling the wheel gun on Oscar Piastri’s car? I need some sort of evidence. #f1 #F1 #piastri

Sadly didn’t check ‘X’ or website when driving the truck to Gosford. No text or call to let us know racing was off. 3 hour trip to find out via owner who happened to see it on tv. No text or call from RNSW or Gosford. Not the first time. How hard can it be.
