RIP Mike Dormer. Did enormous work for youth cricket in Canterbury. Fortunate to spend a few days at the Willows Cricket Club growing up and meet him a few times. A bloody wonderful man.

Canterbury Country eventually bowled out for 325, which means Nelson will now win the Hawke Cup. Sheat out for 76, 9th wicket stand added 117 then followed by 46 for last wicket. Zak Foulkes batting at 9 last out for 92 made in almost 5 hours, to follow 6-88 yesterday.

Heroic rearguard action being mounted by Canterbury Country at Rangiora in defence of the Hawke Cup. Chasing Nelson's 365, they have recovered from 111/7 to currently be 252/8 (Zak Foulkes 63*, Fraser Sheat 57*). Foulkes already took 6 wickets in Nelson's first innings.

The Boxing Day Test match is two days away, so I suppose it is better to tell the tale of the greatest Boxing Day cricket the world has ever seen. That happened in 1953, at Ellis Park, Johannesburg (the photograph is from another match). Warning: +
