@Joannalangfield I’ll be checking during Oscars commercials.

@JerryBarmash Cough, cough

I’ll be joining Jay Oliver on @linewsradio Monday morning (8:30) to discuss the legacy of legendary anchor Ernie Anastos.
English

@jonathanmb32 I think the “Sinners” surprise would be MBJ taking the Best Actor.
English

@MikeJanela I posed the “Mount Rushmore” idea in the introduction for my 2024 book “Here Now the News.”

If you grew up anywhere near New York City, the Mount Rushmore in some order is:

@liznyny @DickYoungsGhost @Natalie4NY Legends on equal footing. I interviewed many of the anchor greats, and those who worked with them, for my 2024 book “Here Now the News.”
English

@Natalie4NY Ernie Anastos and Chuck Scarborough were in a league of their own. Their professionalism and warmth radiated through the camera. NYC legends. May Ernie rest in peace.

Journalism is important…the work we do…but for me, how we treat people, is what sticks. While I didn’t know Ernie Anastos well, I will never forget how he made me feel when I met him. It was 10 years ago…my first year on the job at WNBC in the Big Apple…

@nealkwatra @RobGeorge I was honored to interview several of the anchor greats for my book “Here Now the News.”
English

There was a cohort of local broadcast anchors in the NYC media market in the 80s and 90s that felt larger than life. Ernie Anastos (RIP), Sue Simmons, Chuck Scarborough, Warner Wolf, Len Berman, Kaity Tong, Roz Abrams, Diana Williams, Dana Tyler, John Roland, Bill Beutel….If you grew up watching local news in the 80s and 90s, these were giants. They were the Cronkite’s of our local broadcast TV world and there won’t ever be a crew like them that holds our attention and feel as intimate a part of our lives as they once did.
