A Louisiana pastor is facing second-degree battery charges after authorities say he crossed the street and assaulted a 20-year-old neighbor last month. According to investigators, the confrontation allegedly included dozens of punches, a takedown, and a kick, leaving the young man with facial injuries that reportedly required stitches. Pastor Tony Spell has claimed he was defending his family after the neighbor allegedly threatened them. He also made headlines by saying he had “fulfilled scripture” by “laying hands on the sick.” A judge has now ordered Spell to remain at least 50 yards away from the alleged victim while the criminal case proceeds. His next court appearance is scheduled for September. If the allegations are proven in court, a pastor is called to exercise self-control and be above reproach.
