Update from Singapore Powerlifting Nationals: got a bronze medal 🥉 in the U93, M1 class & also IPF / officially now a member of the 1000 pound club. Here are the details: * Squat: 165kg (364lbs), 175kg (386lbs), failed 185kg (407lbs) * Bench: 100kg (220lbs), 105kg (231lbs), skipped third (shoulder pain) * Deadlift: 185kg (407lbs), 195kg (430lbs)… and then finally broke a year-long deadlift plateau with a well-executed 210kg (463lbs) pull (shown here!) That last lift felt different—after failing 200kg (441lbs) for almost a year, it felt like I’d finally become an athlete and locked in. As soon as I was backstage I doubled up and got emotional. Catharsis. This is what happened before the tears 😭:

The most disorienting thing these days is catching a glimpse of myself through the eyes of people outside our industry. “So how’s the AI thing going? ChatGPT is crazy, right?” I pause. Part of me wants to smile and say, “Don’t worry bestie humans can’t be replaced,” and let the cocktail crowd nod before drifting to safer topics: Trump, tariffs, the usual. But how can I? For six months, I’ve watched things move at speeds that make even me (a speed demon!) dizzy. What happened to cars and Detroit (a hollowing out of culture, capital, community) feels imminent in the cognitive economies of capitalism and education. Imminent. Not here yet, but coming. And as Derrida might say: what is imminent is also immanent. The pervasive is becoming inevitable. You can feel it nibbling at the edges. The Shoggoth must be fed before it cooks for you. Most workflows are now just one obsessive programming streak away from being infinitely scalable. Does that reduce their value? I don’t know. The economists can sort that out. But it feels like a dream where those at the heart of the revolution sound like deranged prophets … when all we’re doing is describing what we see.

Not controversial but a good hack when stating opinions. Just tell people who @ you on Twitter with “ackchyually …” that they are right. Eg Yes. Good point. You are right. = inner peace

I’m getting good at engagement baiting

Whenever a conspiracy theory is proven true and the conspiracy theorist says “I told you I was right!”, the response is “yes you were right but it was a politically motivated guess when you did it, now we have evidence” I’m not sure if this is the right operating model, what do you think?

@carmona_loreto @MBurt34 maybe because the stressful environment forces people to constantly go beyond their limits? If the system would be human focused, rather than profit oriented, it may be different?
