@editingemily I’ve always tried making connections with recruiters and people who I know need or want work. Years ago when I needed that, people did it for me. I’m paying it all forward.

I’ve been doing this and it’s working really well.

@malwareunicorn Many years ago my health went sideways, and I’ve struggled with various issues since then. This happened to my wife, as well. However, I had doctors taking me more seriously than she did, despite her struggles being more severe. Fighting the gender bias in medicine is horrible.

@editingemily I wish I could be genuinely surprised. However, I’ve met enough ignorant people to know this is likely way more common than we think. A permanent bracelet is stupid even without the radiation.

I was painting pottery with the kiddo and the woman behind me was talking about a permanent bracelet (I think they weld it together once it’s on you?) that had a piece of radium on it. And how radium isn’t that bad and it’s cool because it glows in the dark. Ma’am.

@swagitda_ I hope men call out and stop harassment and exclusionary behavior at work, at conferences, and everywhere else. The more people and companies that encourage and reward calling out this shit the better. I’m so sorry you had to experience this.

@engineering_bae I’m with you there. At some point they are performative or posturing for the company rather than useful. Why not some small group or 1:1 interviews and a group meet for the rest of the people? It isn’t hard to find or reject a match if asking the right questions.
