$PLTR Joe Patrois, Development Strategist at Cavanagh: "97% of our company uses Palantir. Every other software has to justify their existence to us. Palantir does it daily." Joe sat down to explain how Palantir has become the operating system of choice for Cavanagh and where he sees the future of the collaboration as both companies continue to build new workflows and discover new usecases!

One platform. One ontology. Real-time operations from quarry to job site. Thomas Cavanagh Construction is rebuilding their operations with AI, and replacing legacy ERP systems with a unified operating system running on Palantir Foundry. See how they are approaching total transformation.

The bottleneck to AI innovation is no longer algorithms; it is power and compute. America is at an inflection point in the energy infrastructure buildout, and it requires software built for an entirely different scale. Today, alongside @nvidia and @CenterPoint, we are launching Chain Reaction to address this directly by accelerating the AI buildout with energy producers, power distributors, data centers and infrastructure builders.

Latest piece on anti nuclear environmentalism. If you're concerned about fossil fuels, support nuclear. We just passed break even with a fusion reaction after all! lawliberty.org/malthusian-env…

@sushil_js Bike lanes on less trafficked streets would definitely make me feel safer on a bike.

@palladiummag just got my copy of 07, very excited to have one of my pieces included. Since I wrote the piece, the geopolitical realities have changed. Russia is unlikely to exert as much influence over climate tech. A US dominated coalition seems most likely.

One of the issues with the current academic pipeline (among many) is the discontinuity in remuneration from successful graduate student to post doc. Not sure how it is in other countries, but most post docs would be a sufficiently large pay cut that I'm looking at other options.

@miltonwrites Things to consider: Deep meditation might be picking up some of the slack. The effects of long term minor sleep deprivation might be manageable. Microsleeping might be another mechanism by which you make up missing hours. Divine intervention.

It's been a busy two days: two abstracts submitted, one to @EuroGeosciences general meeting and one to the Paleoclimate Working group of CESM. Also a grant renewal and an application for PaleoCamp! #PhD #STEM

Ontario's heading back into stage two which means I'm teaching from home again. My teaching usually relies heavily on whiteboards, any suggestions? #workingfromhome #teaching

One day, alien scientists will judge us harshly for two things. Choosing Mho as our unit for conductance, and choosing current to be the opposite direction of electron flow.

Cool facts I came across writing history notes for my Gr 12 physics class: The word electricity comes from the Greek word for Amber The experiment that showed electric conduction is finite involved a 1.6km circle of monks Voltaic electricity started with a guy sucking on zinc.

Any solution to the climate crisis that treats economic concerns as irrelevant is pointless utopianism. The market is a bull, how do we tilt the red flag in the direction we want?

Finally attending a conference again was amazing. #AGU21 was great. I got to meet a bunch of other Paleo people and network. Had some great discussions with other ECR and looking forward to the year ahead.

Referred to the Laurentide Ice Sheet as the "Big Chungus Ice sheet" to describe how dominant it is in controlling deglacial sea levels. I think that's enough conference for me. #AGU21

At #AGU21 really enjoying being in person at a conference again, didn't realize how much I missed it. Anyone I know here in New Orleans?
