@CanadasLeafs Yeah, nothing more clear than saying "I can't predict the future" when directly asked about his future with the team.
English

@ligh64283 @the_habitant Sven Bartschi went 13th that draft. Ryan Murphy went 12th. Namestnikov and Phillips were 1st round picks. Rocco Grimaldi was 3rd pick of the second round.
English

@ligh64283 @the_habitant No, it was because he's Russian and was playing in Russia.
The size concerns push him to the mid-late 1st, not completely out of the 1st round & not deep into the 2nd round. If he was Swedish, he'd have been a mid-1st.

Genuinely insane to be comparing McKenna to Kucherov
People were disrespecting McKenna by not having him in their top 2 at the beginning of the year (which I said was a gross undervaluation of him, he’s always been the clear 1OA), but now it’s taken a full 180.
Willyston Riellander@nylanderthews
If all goes well, this is Gavin McKenna at his peak. You live with the bad defense because he's a goddamn wizard with the puck on his stick. Don't overthink this.
English

@ligh64283 @the_habitant Kucherov was only a 2nd round pick because he's Russian. He dummied the MHL and was the best player at the u18s that year.
English

@the_habitant Kucherov was a very late 2nd round pick. Progress isn't predictable.

The revisionist history around Marner is something else. He has 9 points in his last 3 games, playing against two teams with no playoff experience. Anaheim specifically bleeds chances, they have all year -- they gave up the third most goals *in the league* this year.
Andy Strickland@andystrickland
Mitch Marner isn’t a playoff player

@the_habitant Mf you had Suzuki and Caulfield in 2019. Your rebuild didn't start in 2022, you just bottomed-out in 2022.
English

It’s crazy just how much the #GoHabsGo have leapfrogged all the other rebuilding teams in the NHL since 2022 when we finished last in the league and BEGAN our own rebuild

@VinnieParise It won't likely be a 3-year ELC. Kantserov is only eligible for a 3-year ELC. The term is based on age: <=21-year-old players have to sign 3-year ELCs.
English

“Yeah, I think some point in the next little while,” Kyle Davidson said on signing Roman Kantserov after the draft lottery ended. “I think over the next couple of weeks or so, we can chat with his representatives and see what they’re thinking for next year.”
It will likely be a 3 year ELC with performance bonuses attached. We’ll see for sure once he’s officially signed.

Roman Kantserov terminated his KHL contract and is expected to sign with the Chicago Blackhawks to pursue his NHL career. New for @TheHockeyNews: thehockeynews.com/nhl/chicago-bl…

@ejmichele Similar to Carels this year. I don't think many would project Carels to be a game-breaking PP1-type player in the NHL. He'll be able to make plays, transition the puck and will play on a PP unit but he won't put up 50+ points a year.
English

@ejmichele Reid is a more natural/coordinated puck-handler. As a result, he's able to make plays that Dickinson has and will struggle to make with pace.
I think Sharks fans see the totals Dickinson put up in his D+1 and think he's an elite offensive D but that's not going to be his game.
English

@MalleyJimmy @PuckinHostile I don't get it either. Both are good two-way players, both have good size (with Frondell being thicker/stronger) but Frondell has an elite attribute in his shot while Desnoyer has not elite attributes.
English

@PuckinHostile I still don’t understand why people had Desnoyer over Frondell. Always felt like it was easier to translate Frondell into the NHL

Hawks could legit have 4 of these players on their roster opening night
EveryDayLeafs@thatssoleafy77
Per Wheeler his rankings of players at the time of draft(last 4 drafts) 1. Bedard 2. Celebrini 3. Schaefer 4. Fantilli 5. McKenna 6. Misa 7. Demidov 8. Carlson 9. Stenberg 10. Smith 11. Levshunov 12. Ried 13. Malhotra 14. Smits 15. Desnoyers 16. Frondell

@mukmuk0001 @TKlasky2269 @soupdard No but seriously, Kaiser isn't going anywhere. No matter which D CHI takes -- if they do take a D -- that D won't be in the NHL next year. They're not going to move Kaiser or Korchinski unless they're part of a package to get a good top-6 forward.
English

@BarstoolChief massive contract for his 29 to 35-year-old seasons. His contract is going to become an anchor right when the Hawks contention window opens.
English

@BarstoolChief What is the point of trading for Brady? His best years are already behind him, he's not going to age well and he's not signed to an extension -- and not eligible to sign an extension for another year. You trade for him, then you're locked into having to sign him to a...

@shuperman2008 @farmboyfresh @ChrisHabs360 So Xhekaj doesn't play on the PP or PK, and that's somehow a positive in his favour?
There are 60 minutes split between 6 D, 3 pairings, & St. Louis trusts Xhekaj to play less than a sixth of those minutes. Again, he's irrelevant. Why would anyone fight him in the playoffs?
English

@JetuJetu57 @farmboyfresh @ChrisHabs360 Greenway gets more bc of pk. He got his first goal on home ice in the playoffs. He won’t fight 72 that’s for sure.
