11 Adar: R'Chaim Yosef Dovid Azulai, the Chida (1724-1806). The great Sefardic Rav & leader was Talmid of the Ohr Hachaim & a pioneer in the publication of Jewish religious writings. He wrote over 70 Sefarim, including the Birkei Yosef on Shulchan Aruch.

25 Shvat: R'Yisrael Lipkin Salanter (1810-83). Founder and spiritual father of the Mussar movement. Author - Iggeres HaMussar, other thoughts are collected in sefer Or Yisrael, written by one of his closest talmidim, R'Yitzchak Blazer of Petersburg.

20 Teves: Rabbeinu Moshe ben Maimon, the Rambam (1135-1204). One of the great Rishonim. Author - Mishneh Torah - 14 volume code of Jewish law, Moreh Nevuchim - "Guide for the Perplexed" which explains Jewish theology, Sefer HaMitzvos, Perish on Mishnayos.

6 Teves - yahrzeit of Rabbi Yitzchak Reuvein Ornstein, (1856-1925). His book, Charuzei Peninim published in Krakau in 1897, reprinted in London in 1920. In 1921 a rabbi at the Machzikei Hadas synagogue in Brick Lane, London. Does anyone know more about him? @yahrtzeits
