Today, at the 29th Quarterly Meeting of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Management with Executive Chairmen of SUBEBs, we reaffirmed a shared commitment: accelerating basic education outcomes through deliberate, data-driven action.
Over the past year, we have collectively reached over 8.7 million learners, trained nearly 500,000 teachers, improved learning environments, and strengthened access to essential resources across the country. With over ₦100 billion unlocked and more than 30 states actively utilizing the Basic Education Fund, the progress is clear but the work ahead demands even greater coordination and accountability.
Our focus now is clear:
Moving beyond “business as usual” to a system that is digitally enabled, transparent, and responsive.
From 2026, the Basic Education Action Plan (BEAP) will be fully digitized, enabling real-time planning, faster approvals, increased transparency, and stronger collaboration with partners. This is not just about technology; it is about using data as a tool for precision, efficiency, and measurable impact.
We are also taking decisive steps to establish and enforce minimum standards across all schools ensuring that infrastructure, learning conditions, and teacher support meet the expectations every Nigerian child deserves.
This meeting remains a critical platform for peer learning, shared accountability, and strategic alignment across states. I encourage all stakeholders to continue to identify needs clearly, leverage our evolving digital systems, and work collaboratively to drive sustainable change.
Education for all is not just a goal, it is a responsibility we must collectively deliver on.

OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON POLICY AND COORDINATION, CRDCU DEEPENS ENGAGEMENT WITH PRESIDENTIAL COMMITTEE ON TRADE MALPRACTICES
The Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, and Head, CRDCU @hadizabalausman today convened a high-level engagement with the Presidential Committee on Trade Malpractices (PCTM), led by its Chairman, Mallam Dahiru-Ado Kurawa.
The meeting created an opportunity for robust and focused discussions on Nigeria’s trade ecosystem, with particular attention on the structure and operations of Free Trade Zones and their alignment with national economic objectives.
In her opening remarks, the Special Adviser welcomed members of the Committee and underscored the importance of trust, policy coherence, and sustained collaboration across government institutions. She highlighted the critical role of the Committee’s ongoing review of Free Trade Zone activities in ensuring that policy frameworks remain coordinated, effective, and responsive across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The Committee shared key insights from its ongoing work, raising concerns around the operational models of companies within Free Trade Zones, particularly those under NEPZA. Drawing comparisons with global best practices, including industrial clustering models in China, discussions explored how similar approaches can be adapted to strengthen Nigeria’s domestic economy. Attention was also given to the delicate balance between incentives offered within the zones and the need to protect the competitiveness of local manufacturers.
A key area of focus during the discussion was the longstanding divergence between the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and NEPZA, especially regarding the movement of goods from Free Trade Zones into the domestic market. The Committee referenced previous policy interventions aimed at managing these inflows, noting that reforms in this area require careful calibration rather than abrupt adjustments. There was a shared recognition that while such reforms may be complex, they are both necessary and urgent.
In her closing remarks, the Special Adviser reaffirmed her office’s commitment to strengthening regulatory oversight, deepening inter-agency coordination, and advancing policies that promote fair competition while protecting Nigeria’s economic interests. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by all parties to sustain collaboration in tackling trade malpractices and ensuring that Nigeria’s trade framework delivers inclusive and sustainable economic value.

Earlier today, I had a very important meeting with members of our State Executive Council, the House of Assembly, our advisers and aides, Local Government Chairmen, and heads of MDAs here in Dutse.
It was one of those moments where you pause and really look at where you are, and where you are going.
This is a crucial time for us. We are approaching elections. And I felt it was necessary to bring everyone together so we can think in the same direction and move with the same purpose.
We spoke openly about governance, about our party, and about the responsibility we all carry. Because at the end of the day, all of us here belong to the APC, and our focus must remain one, the development of Jigawa State. We really have no other priority beyond that.
I also reminded everyone that leadership is not about personal gain. Many of those in the room accepted these responsibilities out of commitment to serve, and I truly appreciate that. Each person is contributing in their own way, and those efforts are being felt across the state.
I told them clearly that we must remain united and continue engaging our people at every level. That connection is something we cannot afford to lose. That is why we are putting in place structures to reconnect at the grassroots, to talk to our people, and to keep building confidence.
It’s good to see more people coming in. But we have to handle that growth with care, so it strengthens us, not the other way round.
I also made it clear that we will pay closer attention going forward—to ensure that everyone stays committed to the values and direction we have set for Jigawa.
To those with political ambitions, I said something simple: power belongs to God. If it comes, be grateful. If it doesn’t, be patient. It is not a do-or-die affair.
Jigawa has come a long way, and there is still more to be done. The responsibility is on all of us, and I believe we are ready for it.
