My Grandparents Were Married For 60 Years. One Day I Asked My Grandfather: “What’s The Secret To Loving The Same Woman For A Lifetime?” He didn’t laugh. He didn’t say “communication.” He didn’t say “date nights.” He looked at my grandmother, who was in the kitchen, and said: “You don’t love the same woman.” That confused me. He said, “She changes every few years. And if you don’t update the way you love her, you lose her.” He told me the girl he married at 22 wasn’t the same woman at 30. Motherhood changed her. Loss changed her. Time changed her. “At 40,” he said, “she needed respect more than romance. At 50, she needed partnership more than passion. At 60, she needed presence more than promises.” And every time she changed, he had a choice: Complain that she’s “not like she used to be.” Or learn her again. He said the biggest mistake men make is this: They fall in love once. Then stop paying attention. “Loving a woman for a lifetime,” he told me, “is deciding to stay curious about her.” Not assuming you know her. Not freezing her in the version you met. He leaned back and said something I’ll never forget: “If you stop studying her, someone else eventually will.” Sixty years. Not because it was easy. Because he kept relearning her.

@historyinmemes I’ve done a road trip from San Antonio to Yellowstone, cut over to South Dakota and made my way back. Took about a month and was awesome! 🤩 About to start in Las Vegas and make the west coast loop, but cutting back through Sequoia National Forest back to Vegas.

The most efficient U.S. road trip route, as determined by a data scientist… In 2015, data scientist Dr. Randal Olson created what he dubbed the “perfect” U.S. road trip using genetic algorithms—a type of search heuristic—to tackle the classic Traveling Salesman Problem. His aim was to chart the most efficient route visiting either 50 major national landmarks or all 47–50+ National Parks without needless backtracking. The final route stretches over 13,699 miles, covering all 48 contiguous states and iconic sites like the Statue of Liberty, the Alamo, and Yellowstone. While the pure driving time totals roughly 224 hours, most travelers would spend 2 to 3 months completing the journey with sightseeing.

At 81, Sam Elliott didn’t return to prove he was still strong, he returned to tell the truth, and Billy Bob Thornton stood beside him to make Landman feel like a final, honest goodbye rather than a farewell wrapped in noise. If one person learns something from this scene it was worth watching. We only get so many moments.

This weekend was exactly what my soul needed. One of my best friends flew in, and we did it all—shopping, karaoke, good food, local sights, and a whole lot of laughter. Having one of my best friends visit was such a gift, and I’m so thankful for the time together. 💛
