What appeared to be a very quiet day on Great Saltee Island last Friday suddenly turned chaotic when Ireland’s first Trumpeter Finch landed in front of me. 🤯

Just home from an amazing birding trip to Estonia. Thanks to Uku Paal Estonia’s top lister for expert guiding. Our main target was Steller’s Eider which we saw. Other highlights included Capercaillie, Black Woodpecker, Middle-spotted Woodpecker and White-backed Woodpecker.

Red Light Birding A pair of amorous Southern Brown Kiwis on Stewart Island NZ yesterday. Thanks to Beaks and Feathers and Wrybill Tours for arranging.

I travelled from Dublin to Wexford today via Helvic Head in Waterford and was well rewarded with super views of both the Pallas’ Warbler and Red-breasted Flycatcher found yesterday.
